Ok, AcidJasmine went jogging at lunchtime ( Married life is taking its tolls on one's waistline so drastic measures needed)

http://applecroft.neontribe.co.uk/aboutus/sport/jogging.gif ( unfortunately -not a true likeness)

So I jog from work in Surry Hills to the Botannic Gardens a coupla times a week.

Today I had to go to the toilet (I was busting). So at the Domain, there are public toilets. I jogged in there for a quick piss and there were 7 men in there walking around/standing around , looking around sheepishly.

Lots of handwashing going on.

I think there were another 2 ina cubicle. WRONG WRONG WRONG!
a. Its daylight. b. there are lots of kids about that area c. ts not exactly ' off the beaten
track' .

It aint the 70's no more. There are plenty of legal sex on premises places to go to. I know lots of men feel that they have no other outlet but maybe pulling ya cock out in a public toilet block where I wanna have a quick piss is not the place to express one's sexuality!?

I'm broadminded, I really am! I'm no George Michael but Ive had my share of outdoor, public sex etc etc in my time, but this is crazy. I was uncomfortable and embarrassed and it makes me feel like I cant use these facilities. I really felt like calling the Police to break up the party.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

I agree with you there are plenty of sex premises in sydney, beats can be good but at the right time and situation, not when they are being used by the general public

I've never been to a beat before nor do i plan on going to one. But out of curiousity are beats mainly filled with over weight elderly men... or are they young and hot???

Well Tristianity, even though I was sweating and panting and not in the mood for sex at the time, I no doubt would have looked at the whole situation differently had a Bel-Ami or Triga Film cast been doing their business. But alas, scenes of hot young men en masse in public toilets is pure fantasy. In my case ,the other day - it was a mixed crowd, young, old, but definately not pretty! But hey - that aint the point of my post. Ugly or pretty, this sort of carry-on just aint right.

I agree AJ my partner and I like to visit the Ginseng at the Crest once every so often to relax and basically sweat it out......and the amount of doodle action that goes on there puts me off going........there are more appropriate saunas in sydney for doodle action - but i suspect the guys who visit the ginseng are to scared to possibly be seen in or around a sex on premises sauna.....

But the most disgusting one i stumbled across was at the gents at Town Hall station.........i just wanted to take a slash before jumping on the train but the guys their where openly masturbating at the trough it was foul.......i will never step foot in that place again.......I now understand why parents never send kids into public toilets by themselves......it certainly does nothing for gay/hetro relations......

totally agreed on the ginseng issue - i was taken there as a birthday treat after it was highly recommended by some female friends (obviously the female side is a nicer place to be). It was the worst experience of my life and hence my 30th birthday went down as a pretty bad memory! There are enough places for sauna sex - leave it out of toilet blocks, parks and family areas. It's no wonder we all get a bad name!

omg how could ginseng baths be the worst experience of anyones life?

Ive been there once and sure there was lots of people eying each other, but really mostly harmless. I can believe some people maybe tug each other discreetly under the water, but its really not the place for anything else.

I thought it was kind of funny.

But have to agree with toilet beats. The thing that bugs me is the type who feels victimized if security is increased. Just read the "You are being watched" story comments.

hate to tell you jasn nothing that goes on at the ginseng is discret......i have seen it all there.......hopefully when it closes for reno's the offenders might make their way to the places where there activites belong.......and stay there

Mj,078 - youve proved my point completely. If we ( gay men) are uncomfortable with overtly (homo)sexual goings-on in a public space, then how must our hetero brothers feel?

Beat sex is not traditionally carried out by gay identifying men. Beats are generally [although not exclusively] places more likely frequented by non-gay-identifying MSMs...so they are, for all intents and purposes "straight men" who are doing the playing. It is therefore a group of men [due to circumstance] who can not and will not be seen in traditional venues like SOPVs and the like.

It is also my experience that if you are using the facilities for urinary purposes the guys there will understand this and allow you to do so without interrupting...obviously the moment you show any signs of being interested in what is going on [or suspected to be so] then they will certainly "test the water". This is not to dismiss the suggestion that sometimes it is quite an uncomfortable situation to be placed in.

One must also realise that the fact it is public and [in some cases] illegal, is precisely the reason beat sex is so appealing...the adrenalin rush is quite high.

I am not supporting or condemning the activity, but I am amused, albeit in a slightly confused fashion, why some of you would consider this distasteful or offensive. It is something quite the norm for this group of the community all around the world, and although not the most hygienic of choices for sexual liaisons, it is not about anything like that - it is about anonymous quick "getting off" sex by predominantly a group of men who can not satisfy this part of their sexual needs in any other way.

I also strongly question the connection some of you have made between the activity and hetero / homo relations - in short...why care what the heterosexual community think of us? Certain sections of the heterosexual community have made these feeling blatantly clear...and would simply like us to disappear OR live by the mantra that "its ok to be gay as long as we act straight in public"...or similarly dismissive ideals. I personally don't find heterosexuality normal...just COMMON!!!! ;)

As long as the sex being had is safe and does not include under aged persons, then, until an alternative can be found [which is unlikely] it is something you will all simply need to build a bridge and get over!

But you're not really amused and bemused. The whole reason beat users get that self-serving "adrenalin rush" that you are promoting is because the people generally find it offensive.

And "why care what the heterosexual community think of us?". Well, for a start, saying "us" seems to imply our sexuality necessitates random and anonymous sex through a toilet wall hole. Not every gay and lesbian has a fuck-the-world mentality or wants to live in a ghetto.

I care what the hetro community think of us......

because human nature is to associate the action with the "people" not the person - generalisation........i.e. the whole jihad thing (we all know not every islamic is involved - but human nature tells us to look twice and be aware of all people of middle eastern appearance)........bulldogs supporters and fighting

you see homo activity in the toilet at town hall station you are going to put all homos in that basket - we all do it and as much as you say you don't generalise you do - we all do.......you see a fat person do they over eat or do they have a medical condition? bet you didn't pick the medical condition

Yeah Brett , I dont think you get my point. I have absiolutely no issue with beat sex if there is no chance of underage or non-interested people coming across it. I know straight and gay men who feel uncomfortable going into public toilets becuase of what goes on. This is ridiculous. What is a school aged child has walked intot he toilet when I did. It would have been very confronting for that child and possibly disturbing.

No chance,?? How is absolutely NO chance possible in this world? Let's be realistic here it goes on big deal so does sex in public places, sometimes in direct view by st8 couples!
Beats are here to stay.

hopefully people will start getting sick of trawling gaydar and other such hookup sites and will return to the scene and the backrooms... would be good to see sydney start to at least resemble its former self.

I'm not quite sure if the need to be discreet makes sense for a beat at a public venue. Ok, I sometimes come across guys that call themselves discreet on sites and apps, and most common scenario it seems is they search for a venue owned by the other person involved, or they have a place of their own.
If I think of myself now as a discreet person, sure - I should def instead of doing the above which is probably much more secure, should just go to a public venue where anyone can come by and see me looking suspicious or coming out of the cubicle with another guy. It really would just make so much more sense than going to a venue full of gay people or somewhere owned by someone involved...I dunno, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me - this whole 'because it is the last resort or their only choice'. It's the choice they've made, not a matter of being the only available option.

Also, as a side note which i don't do LOL, when flushing toilets apparently you should close the lid as when you do without it closed, all the germs come spooshing into the air and you'll be surrounded by poop germs LOL LOL
