View Full Version : A Hairy Problem (Literally)

I have very hairy legs and... other parts of the body, which aggravates me sometimes and doesn't look very flattering.
I've tried shaving my legs and it's not for me, mainly because of skin problems. So I have decided to give waxing a go, and will probably be going in to have it done soon.

However, my problem (to put it bluntly) is that I also have a bit of a hairy crack, and it doesn't seem to be a part that can be shaved or waxed.
Is my only option to cut it short and endure the uncomfortableness of it? Please help, it's quite embarrassing to talk about... :(

It is entirely possible for them to wax your bottom they refer to it as a " back, crack and sack" even as a female when they give you a brazillian you get a bottom wax too. You will have to do a bit of research into which places you choose to go cause not every waxing place does mens waxing too. The legs are easy, painful but easy...takes a few shots for all the hair to grow back evenly but you get there....be prepared to go back every four to six weeks to get it re done...but once you bite the bullet and do it you will honestly never look back. Plus it feels awesome too!!

I have exactly the same issue.

I am EXTREMELY hairy. I am sooo hairy that back in High School during PE the other boys would make the Wookie sound at me.

I have been waxed several times and it does thin out the hair - but nowhere near the level that laser hair removal would. But I cant afford that so waxing is the only option.

Dont shave, it grows back thicker and courser as well as the skin problems you mentioned. But waxing will also cause skin problems but not as severe.

It will cause pimples. severe rashes that last 7-10 days and eventually ingrown hairs. So there are drawbacks.

If you can afford get laser hair removal, but that seriously costs thousands so most cant afford it.

As for the buttocks thats no problem to get waxed. It is actually the easiest part to wax as it is a small area and usually you have good pain control in that area.

It is the upper chest that kills the most as it sits right on the bone. Now that hurts!

I'm glad I don't have to worry about my chest then! I don't have very much hair on my chest, it only seems to grow from my waist downwards.

If laser hair removal costs so much, how long does it last? I'll have to do some research into it.

Leg shaving is just so evil when it's this thick. Not only do you get the skin problems, the course, thick growback, but it also takes so LONG. Feel like I need to get at my leg hair with a lawnmower, not a razor...

Well for a total of 8 years of being 'actively' gay I am yet to find a single person - male or female that thinks extremely thick and course body hair is attractive.

I am speaking from experience from many dozens of people. Probably over a full 100 thats actually commented on it to me personally.

Besides that it has health risks. It actually is extremely difficult to cope with in the summer and if you were to get pubic lice they would spread throughout all of the body hair. Not the head hair as that is a different kind of louse that lives there.

Waxing the hair around your anus surprising isn't painful. If you are comfortable enough [and I guess flexible enough too :D] you could always do it yourself in the comfort of your own home. I would go with a hot wax over the strips and other solutions. Oh and if you do wax your legs, make sure to exfoliate after the redness disappears to reduce the chance of ingrown hairs.

my recommendation - buy clippers and just cut everything off at number one. you'd be surprised how much better you'll feel. it's quick, and in my opinion it looks better than being completely bald...

i think you'll find that most guys don't mind body hair if it's kept short. and that way you avoid the ingrown hair issue too...

meanwhile, if you do want to get some waxing done downstairs, go to a professional and try to keep those areas to a minimum...

it's a shame though that it has to be that way for you. I don't think there's anything wrong with it anyway. Maybe it's just my preference. I also don't know what it is like to be extremely hairy. I'm pretty hairy but it doesn't bother me too much. I wouldn't want to be with someone who doesn't like me cos I have a hairy chest or something you know? :)

You go boy, Christian... :)

My thoughts exactly. And (since I can safely say that I'm the resident expert on hairy guys here ;) , being an individual who loves bears and all) the only thing someone might mind is a hairy back.

I clip my body hair using a number setting and I shave my balls (to be blunt) and between my legs. It's no biggie. The first time it might be a lot of work, but maintaining it is a breeze.

I am currently studying to be a beautician and waxing really is the best option to get rid of unwanted body hair.
Most salons now do brazilians for women, so its not too far to stray for the beautician.
If you find that your skin is red for a prolonged amount of time after the waxing, ask your beautician to use hot wax.
Thats the wax without the fabric strips. Hot wax is generally safe for sensitive skin as its made with different ingredients.
Waxing over a period of time reduces hair growth and makes the hair finer. So ingrown hairs can occur due to the hair not being able to push its way through to the outer layer of skin. However, if you exfoliate twice or so a week, you should find that ingrown hairs aren't a problem.
As mentioned before in this thread, you guys have thick hair.
You'll find that you'll get spot bleeding from your first couple of times of waxing, thats normal and due to the root of the hair being ripped out.
Also, someone mentioned laser hair removal...if you are considering it, please be careful who you choose to go to!!!!
Many beauticians have the certificate on their wall, but have no proper experience and can actually burn you severly and give you scars where you would least want them. I would recommend going to a respected plastic surgeon for laser hair removal, I think it might be a little more expensive, but at least you can be sure you are getting a good service.
Also with shaving, if you are getting rashes, its probably from shaving when your legs are dry, or not moisturising afterwards.

Hopefully I helped someone...!!

I recommend using this stuff every 6-4 months

http://www.girl.com.au/nads-sensitive-hair-removal-creme.htm

just be careful and read the directions, and set aside about 2 hours to go section by section.

I'm a hairy guy too, from the sound of things alot similar to you guys Chroma and Shazz, the hair grows like a Fawn or a Satyr, from the waist down, and a bit on my chest.

I also have really sensitive skin which was only aggravated more so by two courses of Roaccutane as a teen.

My advice is, you don't need to wax it just make it thinner or less coarse, shaving will make it coarser, and waxing will cause other skin irritations. Use the nads stuff, just probably not on your nads lol use clippers there.

Other than that I think hair is hot if it's styled the right way, plus it adds to stimulation and arousal, the little plucked chickens don't know what they are missing.

If someone rejects you based on your hair factor I'd question their sexuality not yours. The reason you have it is because of excess testosterone which is hot, if they don't like it maybe they are really after little boys or women.

:D

I think you need to have realistic expectations with what you want to achieve. It doesn't sound like waxing would be all that effective based on the thickness of your hair. Cream would be way too time consuming and messy and again not that effective on thick hair. I think all these methods would be painful, costly, develope re-growth within a week and cause alot of ingrowns. As Christian said I think the best would be to clipper your legs.

Most importantly I think you need to be more accepting of yourself more so than trying to get rid of the hair with the above methods. I know it sounds easier said then done, but every other method would only prove disappointing. For three guys that don't like hair, there's bound to be one that will. So just learn to love yourself and highlight your good assets!

I don't think that could have been said more accurately.
Sorry for the delay, new here =P

This was going to be my suggestion also.
Try it.
Clippers are your friend.
A lot of guys find hairy guys attractive.
I do understand you feel yours is too thick and long.
So trimming it every 4-6 weeks may suffice :)
Laser hair removal is expensive and requires many goes 6 weeks apart.
You will be told that you should not go in the sun during or after this process.
Once complete you may need a few maintenance zaps annually.
Feels like an elastic band being flicked on your skin x 20 :)

PS: just saw what Char wrote and totally agree, if you do decide to get any laser hair removal do ensure it is done by a Dr or at the very least a registered nursing sister.
many beauticians have only had basic training on IPL equipment.

for the leg hair, how about an epilator? but if you have thick hair i'm guessing you should be careful and clean it out often.
