Types Of Gays

There's this guy at my job - actually there are 2 of them but one is worse than the other - who is as camp as a pink christmas. Now normally a little bit of camp is fine, I mean we all have it in us (pardon the pun) so it's something to accept, but this guy is what I call an Uber-Camp.
He's the person that sits with 3 mirrors on his desk so he can constantly check himself out, he's the one that talks about himself over anyone else, he's the one that thinks Paris Hilton is a great role model, he's the one who has to be the centre of attention in anything. He is in fact one of the campest things I have ever seen and it irritates the hell out of me.

This got me thinking about the types of gay people and the worlds that surround them. Does anyone else have the same feelings I have towards the guy at work to other gay people? Do we stand together as a people united by common goals or do we wanna scream "All right we get it!!!!YOUR GAY SO AM I!!!!!!!!!" at the tops of our voices???:rolleyes:

Hehehe I know exactly the type of guys you're talking about, and I've got a theory on them.

I could never quite figure out why people went from being relatively "normal" to OVERLY CAMP when they first came out, you see it walking up and down Oxford St/Commerical Rd all of the time. But my theory goes like this - coz gays as a minority when at work/at restaurants/walking around etc, I reckon that the whole camp thing is like an instant way of communication to everyone, espeically other gay guys, that you are gay.

I'm not a fan of it, but that's my theory why some guys are just OVER THE TOP, anyone else know what I mean?

I can see ya theroy on it, that it's kind of like a mating call so that other gays in the area know they are there. But see it irritates me so yeah i can see that he's gay but he offends me in a weird kind of way in that fact that he's conforming to the stereotype that straight girls have of gay men, he is a fag bag to a bunch of girls who love him for it but you can tell they don't like me because I'm not like him.
So is he wrong for promoting a stereotype that is incorrect while at the same time being the person that he is??

I can see your point, i mean if everyone was the same it would be boring but personally speaking i can't see what attracts guys to the Uber Camps, i mean you might as well go with a woman but everyone has their own tastes.

But are there any other types of gays that get on your nerves or are we just unified in our dislike of the Uber Camps??

as there entire persona seems to be "im gay get over it" in a very loud way. i can only assume they dont know who there are deep deep down inside, and that must be scary.
So if u go the uber camp act, u can let others decide who you are. You can be what ever label your given, both liked and hated by society.
eventually they seem to be comfortable with themselfs and begin to tone it down to just camp.

Yeah stock, i can see what you mean. I always see people like that as very insecure, that they are not comfortable with themselves or have some deep seeded childhood trauma, I dunno but hey everyone has stuff in their life that they have to deal with, some worse than others but hiding behind this big fake personality is sad and will only lead to problems later - MARK MY WORDS!!!! I sometimes put on a bit of campness if i guy that i like comes into the store and has a possibility of being gay. I do use it as a mating call. But i'm generally very discreet unless i'm in a conversation with a bunch of over the top camp guys... it comes out a bit then.

yeah as i said it's all in us, i guess its just to the level that some guys feel they have to take it. They conform to a stereotype which is wrong and outdated and only true to a miniority, which i suppose is where stereotypes come from with any miniority group i guess.

I kind of agree, but then at times it can be the opposite. One of my younger cousins is as camp as anything NOW, but when we were growing up he was as quiet as a mouse. I think he is now comfortable with who he is and is actually acting as normal as he knows how to. Maybe years of suppressing the real him has created this OTT persona?

YOU’RE A REAL PIECE OF WORK. – You are loved – your always in the scene – you keep to a closed group, but everyone knows of you, and as a result your always at the party.

DRAG QUEEN – You although an icon – and adored…Should be loved – not always trusted, this is because you have a nasty girl streak about you – You are in show – we expect this from you – HOWEVER you are a double lifer – you will also be anyone of the other categories in your spare time and this is why we love you – you are a performer. Everyone knows you – and if they don’t they will say that they do.

TRUCKER GAY – otherwise known as CLOSET AND OR MARRIED GAY. - You have a wife and kids – you travel a lot you are not necessarily a trucker – we like to fuck you cause there is no baggage “until the now ex wife comes and hits us with her stiletto” – which then we all become POOFS. If you are a trucker you may often fuck you trucker mates on the side of the road – not because you are gay but because you need a release…Somewhere in life you may come out of your closet – and you will fit any of these personalities.

BEAR – You are something special – Bears are often mistaken in the GAY world as the ruff end of the room – BEARS like to play, you like to play – as a result you can also forgo any other personality of GAY

FAGOT – Yes a horrible word. – Because you are HORRIBLE – you are the one that hides in the night, you are the one that daddy warned would give us all a fright. FAGOTS are the lowest form of gay man. As horrible as the word – It’s your number on the wall in the toilet, it’s your name who makes the word GAY a word looked down upon….You are dwindling but you are there. WE DON’T LIKE YOU. I don't let myself stick to any particular mannerism, but times change and I guess I would only classify myself as being gay for sexuality and nothing else, I think I'd still love Madonna if I were straight....I think :s

I guess diversity is the key = I am a Gay man, i try to live a quiet gay lifestyle and I would adhore a man who wants the same - not continuially having to be in the scene. I came from the Trucker Gay/Married Gay lifestyle - however I never cheated on my ex-wife with another man or women. Get me cranky though - I am gonna kick your friggin ass like a POOF....

Its all about diversity in guess.
It's nice to know as a people's we are so diverse but then again would anyone who was a Queen or a Poof admit it, or do they think they fall into another category??

I have a few friends who classify as queens and/or poofs and they would happily admit it. They're an absolute riot and proud of their uniqueness but I would never actually date one of them.. the basic gay type for me thanks.
