sometimes these come off as cool... e.g Xmen 1-2 but stuff like... Spider Man... (i'm not a big fan of, it ruined my childhood experience of the toon)...i'm a bit hesitant on this one. I prefer the cartoon

Wow, all this high praise for Transformers, have the newspaper reviewers been this kind?

the whole movie is amazing Tim, from go to WHOA... I'm still trying to take it all in, it took my breath away.. the fight scenes are just awesome.. look out for megatron.. and the transformations are simply unreal... I'm going to see it for the 3rd time tomorrow night! Best movie EVAH!

I was hoping for something much better after the reviews on inthemix were so glowing. It's very corny. It's an alright popcorn movie for this summer season, but i don't think it'll stand up to viewing in the future - a lot like ID4. I enjoyed Spider-Man 3 a lot more; i felt like there were actually some characters to care about in that movie.

I'm not being sexist here, but you are a girl Alison... girls tend to like movies with relationships, boys like action. The cartoon never had deep story lines or emotional characters and the movie was true to the cartoon.

I don't know Robbie, i love great action flicks. E.g. the trailer for Die Hard 4 looked plain awesome and i can't wait to see it. I loved The Transporter, Aliens, Terminator, you name it... But this wasn't a great action flick. It was just another middle-of-the-road summer blockbuster. They could've really pulled out all the stops and made it something special, but it's too safe for that. I think the director was trying to appeal to too many bases and ended up making a kinda watery flick that doesn't real work as a great anything.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I've been waiting for this movie since I was a 12 year old boy and I thought it was all action. There were a few annoying characters but the animation was simply the best I have ever seen.

Did ya watch Spidey 3? That opening fight flying between the buildings was something else, my jaw was dropped for the whole scene and several afterwards! Transformers didn't really press my, errr animation button so well though ;)

Still didn't get a chance to check it out this weekend. Want to go check it out this week, or should I wait until it comes out on DVD?

Go the movies, Tim. I think this one benefits from seeing it on the big screen. It's a real summer popcorn flick, they're always more fun at the theater :)

Ha a summer popcorn flick in the middle of Aussie winter. So the effects are pretty great I've been convinced and am tempted to see if on the bigscreen, but is the plot good as well?

Yeah not a huge fan of him, but Iron Man is directed by Jon Favreau, yes? He's a pretty wicked guy so you gotta have faith.
