Would Shortbus ever work in real life.

I saw the movie Shortbus on the weekend, a cool and sexy film, and it got me thinking.

I love the idea behind it, sex for just sex's sake, with no hang ups, no preconceptions, just a place where people could go to be themselves and get off etc. I reckon it's just for the movies though.

Would a real Shortbus ever work in real life?

Gay Sex on Premises Venues or Brothels are probably the closest you'll get. Though of course the club 'Shortbus' was about more than just sex... Certainly you're not permitted to sell alcohol where sex like that occurs, so that would go against such a club in Sydney.

I don't reckon it would ever work in real life. There are far too many other "real life" things at play, from relationships, to jealously, to lust, to STDs, for Shortbus to ever exist in reality.

It's a kinda cool idea though. Maybe in NY in the 70s..

Was a great movie but as far of this type of thing happening in real life, maybe, I don't really know. There are lots of swingers partys still happening, so I'm told...

Yeah, I'd have to agree. The closest thing would be swingers parties, keys in the bowl type thing, but lord knows where that happens, and really, do you want a 120 kg suburban housewife from Kellyville getting it off inches away from your nose?

shortbus would involve everyone who goes there to keep it a secret and only tell people who could handle it and behave accordingly. not sure that's something that could realistically happen in the gay community.

but i do have a few connections wtih people who hold house parties like these... very hot.
