Love the theme. Cant wait for the DJ's to be announced.
Just had a look at the Mardi Gras website and while they haven't revealed all the details there is this teaser...
This year's Sleaze Ball is called Zirkus and is a dark, sexy and gothic tale of circus, lust and whimsy.

It seems a bit too playful and not dark enough

We don't need Sleaze to see a lot of hideous clowns running about in this town :) wokka-wokka...

You'll be right jackie. Something will come to mind. Perhaps go into Google image search @ your leisure and type in words like "circus", "clown" then "trapeze" etc for some inspiration. Personally I'm not big on themes, but I do think this one is good.
I wonder how many Showgirl-like harlequins but with a gothic-twist front-up  Some big bears could do the 1/2 man, 1/2 woman bit successfully.

Oh I reckon there is a pretty dark side to the circus.
Think all of the sideshow freaks, the inbred traveling carnies, the leather straps, the animals in cages....I could go on.

If I was to attend how much effort would i have to go to in the costumer area......Would a red clown nose and a trumpet hitched over my shoulder be enough? Or am I seriously under clubbing it......BTW i cannot sew to save my life nor have i ever applied make up and to clear any confusion my body is not suited to lyrca in any way shape or form!

Time for some inspirational pics....just Googled @ http://images.google.com.au
You would have to make it glam as well as dark, otherwise you could end up looking like 2 mid-western American Gothic teens, or a 70s horror movie about killer clowns.

Yes, I thought so too. If you're a big lazy bear not wanting to go too much trouble, the strongman would be easy enough.
Here is Cirque du Soleil's website. Plenty of inspiration: http://www.cirquedusoleil.com

ummm... can i just say something about the sleaze marketing? cos initially i thought the idea of ZIRKUS was a great one, and i still think the party will be hot - but come on - what's with the poster? the images on the poster and the german weimar zirkus theme just don't go together!
we are reading ads looking for circus performers, we are seeing images of firebreathers, and ringmasters etc. but it's all a bit too tame and literal if you ask me.
i have no doubt that this will be a hot party, but so many people are gonna be turned off by the really uninspiring artwork that's out there at the moment. mardi gras - i say push the darker edges a little...
