We are inundated with dance compliations and every lable is trying to out do itself. I think we have been fortunate to have HED KANDI or so I thought, can I just state my disappointment with the latest offerings from HED KANDI. I understand they are now being produced locally and that's well...fine...but I suspect they have lost their sexy edge. On the other hand, just picked up EN VIE(Ibiza 2007) from Mark Doyle and what can I say...WOW. So tell me, has HED KANDI lost its edge?

i think it all went down hill when Mark Doyle left Hed Kandi to do his own thing

totally Brad... I WAS a big Hed Kandi fan, was on board from the first album but when Mark sold it to Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi lost its soul. Haven't bought a Hed album from the money makers ever since.
Mark even took his artist with him - Jason Brooks. His artwork is absolutely divine, I have 2 signed originals up on my wall that flood back the memories. check his work out - http://jason-brooks.com/
Hotel Es Vives is certainly an awesome album. My fave song for the past 8 months is on that album, and is Forgiveness by Wamdue Project.. it has that special vibe that only Mark can locate and throw on a compilation.
check out Mark's latest project - Fierce Angels - all the CDs are awesome, and they've got 3 new albums out in the next couple of months. And more than likely Same Same will have a few to giveaway!
Stay tuned.

Yep, Mark Doyle is Hed Kandi, and Hed Kandi is Mark Doyle. No matter what name he uses, he is the soul of that project.
I thought he was doing things under the Tokyo Project name though?

Just seen this thread and it's nice to know you're loving Es Vive and big thanks for the kind words as well !
Now I just want to set the record straight on the History of Me & Kandi the biggest one being I never sold Hed Kandi cos I never owned it ...that was the main reason I left because although I created it I never had any sort of ownership within it.
And we were sued by Hed Kandi and it's original owners GMG because I left and took the artist and some staff with me. Hed Kandi claimed that the artists work was part of their trademark and we were infringing it by making new compilations on with new artwork by the same artist.
Ministry took over after the court case was finished and GMG sold Hed Kandi to them .
The drama doesn't end there , in June this year the artist has gone back to work for Hed Kandi and we are rebranding with a whole new look in 2008. phew !!!

Hey Mark - cheers for finding us and clarifying the situation!
We're all huge huge fans of what you do here in Australia and wish you the best of luck with the ongoing drama. Who would have thought that trying to release great music compilations could ever become so complicated? All we wanna do is frigging dance! Ha.

Love your work Mark!
As for Peyton, I had the pleasure of meeting him at Fagtag at the Bank Hotel in January. He gave me a mix of all his amazing tunes mixed by ATFC, Kaskade etc, & I've been thrashing them ever since. Peyton has the rare gift of being able to sing with total conviction - a beacon of pure SOUL!
Look forward to seeing & hearing you back in Sydney.

We're hoping to come back out on Tour around March when we release our new CD. I was out for a whirlwind tour in October and managed 7 gigs in 10 days. We're going to try and make the March one a little more relaxing.
By the way keep an eye out for our new compilation Digital Angel it's distributed by Stomp In Australia and should be out now ! All details on Fierce Angel can be found on our website www.fierceangels.com
In the meantime I'm sure Peyton will keep you entertained anyone that hasn't seen him live should make sure they don't miss him ..he really is one of THE BEST singers I've ever heard and he's a really nice chap as well !
