I did this years ago and was a podium dancer with some back up boys for the 2am show. It was FAB. So So Scary. But amazing.

How much fun would this be - but by 2am I might be looking a little under the weather.......not to mention dancing my own dance if you know what I mean........might put myself down for the 6pm show and get it out the way early! LOL

Oh never fear, if a chubby gal with limited dance ability can make it in, so can you! They have spots for most anyone prepared to give it ago. I totally suck at auditioning too but they are forced to include some of the fat unco folk or else they get accused of being exclusionary and elitist when it's all Sydney Dance Company folk.

I just wish they'd dispense with auditions for those that know they suck. Or have an unco closed set audition round so they can see just how bad you are and decide what you get to do from there. Auditioning with said SDC folk is painful I admit!

Been there done that several times. When I did it there were no auditions, you just showed up for the rehearsal.
The auditions for these things would be awful. You can imagine the bitchy queens all trying to out dance each other.

i am having my last party tonite at southport sharks then mps..

in reality i could make auditions but then couldnt make all rehearsals they would have.. as i live on gold coast of course.. i wish though.. i could pick it up easily..

If it's like the one I went to then you are taught a bit of a dance routine. Then get a chance to practice it. Then do it in small groups in front of a couple of people and the rest of the room.

The audition would be fun but as a lefty I tend not to do so well in ensembles, and neither do the feet of people around me when the lead moves in a particular direction, plus I couldn't be arsed wasting time going to regular rehearsals, Rock Estedfodd in highschool gave me my fill of gaudy costumes moving in unison.

Hi Jodes, yep Cam and I went. there was about 60 people trying out for the first auditions at 11am.. not sure on the 1pm turnout.. probably not as many.

It was fun, a good mix of GLBT's.... some very experienced dancers, and others not so. :)

We get told via email whether we get in or not.

I'm not sure if I will or not. No stress if I don't. At least I gave it a shot Mr.McCool! :)

Yes yes...I totally bailed. Here's something you didn't know about me - I really, really, REALLY don't like dancing.

"Why?" I can hear 99.95% of the population scream....

Well, because, I'm extremely uncoordinated and self-conscious. Dancing makes me feel like the biggest, whitest, unco-est loser this side of broadway. And that's saying something! :)

Still, was fun to see the peeps dancing. Good luck to Robbie.
