As it stands the age of consent in Queensland is 16, but is 18 for sodomy.

Having homosexual intercourse with a 16 or 17-year-old male in Queensland is a criminal offence, and can attract a seven year jail term.

Rwanda, Estonia and Honduras all have equal age of consent.

Queensland doesn't and it is the only state in Australia to have these homophobic laws.

- Write a letter or email to your local candidates.
- Ask candidates what they are going to do about LGBT issues.
- Speak to candidates about LGBT issues when you see them electioneering at shopping centres, on the street, at local meetings etc.
- Write letters to the editor to your local newspaper in support of LGBT issues.
- Contribute your views to blogs, polls and online communities.

Part of a response from the office of Grace Grace, that I recieved after asking how she would advance some of the issues and discrimination facing the GLBT community within her electorate, particularly the fact that QLD is lagging behind federal legislation:

"Ms Grace in her career in the union movement and finally as General Secretary of the Queensland Council of Unions, and now as a member of Parliament, has always fought for the rights of individuals to live their lives free from discrimination and fear.

She has had contact and fully supports the various organisations such as Open Doors, Quivva, Gay and Lesbian Welfare Association, Rainbow Labor and the Queensland Association for Healthy Communities etc"

Personally sounds like she doesn't care to me? Will see what the others have to say!

It's 16 for everyone, you just can't penetrate the anus. The law is no sodomy until 18, whether your straight or GLBTIALPHABET..
