Does Sydney have a gay radio station?

I just read in the Melb forum a guy mention that waking to gay morning show was part of his Ultimate Melbourne (is that what he meant?? i think i read it right), but it got me a thinking that listening to some funny queens in the morn could make me laugh alot more than merrick and rosso...

The station he was referring to is JOY FM, a wicked wicked radio station in Melbourne. You can actually listen to it live on the net at www.joy.org.au - they have one of the best new music playlists in the country and I wish it was here in Sydney as well (hint, hint).

Sydney had Beat FM, anyone know if that's still going? And there was talk a few months back that a new Sydney station Radio Q (www.radioq.com.au) had put in an application for a licence.

I think that listening to a cat screech would be more entertaining than Merrick at Rosso at times...

did afew years ago as part of mardi gras that have like a queer station for the month ??...

That would be Noyice .... I'd do a show !!

one of our contributors - farrelbrest - is part of a group who do a queer radio program for 2serfm - 107.3fm in sydney... why don't you drop him a line? it's on wednesday nights... about 9.30pm i think. it's called queernoise. am sure you could get involved.

3CR (855AM) in Melbourne also has a Queer show on Friday arvo called "In your face".

That show is called Queer Out West (http://www.893fm.com.au/Programs/Queer-Out-West) and it's on 89.3fm

They also have Lesbian's on the air - Tuesday's from 10pm!

And of course there's the number one gay program on Sydney radio (http://www.2gb.com/index.php?option=com_homepage&id=1&Itemid=44)

You mean Alan Jones don't you? I have to ask you Sydneysiders is Alan helpful towards the gay community up there? Does he take part in Mardi Gras? Is he openly gay and seen at clubs or does he take the closet approach? I'm just curious to know as he appears to be a well known gay person.

He avoids all gay subjects to the point of awkwardness. His station counterparts make up for that, though. It's amusing but frustrating.

That said, the way he fawns over the young meat he gets to interview like Anthony Callea is quite creepy.
