Mardi Gras seems to make or break relationships in the gay community each year. It's pot luck for most. Hedonism brings out the best and worst in people, gays & lesbians are no different. With such a grand community event that is Mardi Gras, some can get swept up in the moment, forgeting the real-life consequences of drinking too much then getting behind the wheel of a car, partying too hard & spending WAY too much money on a costume, drugs & so forth. I may sound like a fuddy-duddy, I just wish everyone a happy, safe & responsible Mardi Gras. Do I sound like a dag saying that?
It's not so much an excitement, but 'love the atmosphere, enjoy the ride; but I'm glad it's over when it's over' kinda feeling.
The highlight of the Mardi Gras festival for me has always been Fair Day.
