hey folks - mardi gras have announced the theme for next year's 30th anniversary - "Brave New Worlds". (http://www.samesame.com.au/news/local/1276/Come_Take_A_Peek_At_Mardi_Gras_2008_Brave_New_Worl ds)

The theme for the 30th anniverary is Brave New Worlds and Mardi Gras are hoping this generates discussion on the environment, genetic manipulation, ageing, multiculturalism from a queer perspective, the 1978 protest march that was the origin of Mardi Gras, the AIDS epidemic then and now, as well as queer visions for the future.

What do you think?

Brave New Worlds is a totally hot theme, references both the past and the future, I love it.

It's a great theme very Aldous Huxley........let's hope the party can live up to it

Or Shakespearean, depending on how you look at it:

O, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't!

Perhaps that's the best thing about it - it can be taken as innocence or irony, celebration or satire.

''Hug me till you drug me, honey;
Kiss me till I'm in a coma;
Hug me, honey, snuggly bunny;
Love's as good as soma."

Brave New Worlds, eh? There are a few that I'd like to explore at the after party...

Good theme to do the party with, each room a different world.
