I don't really mind. Once you put something on the internet there's no such thing as privacy.

Although I agree with you naughtylion, maybe there should be a disclaimer for those who are unaware of this. If there already is one then maybe it should be more obvious eg. in the post area. At least it would cover same same against claims against them.

cover samesame? it's just a forum it's not internet banking. if it's that much of an issue rather than spitting the dummy why not try a name change?

really? i just typed in "bisexual coffs harbour" and samesame did not appear on the first 6 pages, after that i gave up..

im kind of confused as to why you would be saying its a breach of privacy? it is a public forum, and the search would only show up to people who typed in "bisexual coffs harbour", and i guess they would be looking for the same thing as you..

anyway, i think if you set your profile to 'private' in the settings area then it probably would not show up in a search.. this is just a guess so don't quote me on that one.

good luck!

It's not that SameSame advertised your profile. As soon as you create a profile, this then creates a new separate URL. The search engines (Yahoo!, Google etc.) then use bots that pick up these URLs and the information contained within them, so that they come up with matches when you type in a related search.

These matches are ranked according to how well they fit in relation to the secret algorithms that the search engines use to rank the results (hence, why Google currently reigns supreme). Which is why you'll have a link to your profile from Yahoo!, but not from Google if you use the search string that you tried, as they have different ways of ranking results (I've just tested myself).

If you feel that you don't want this info displayed, then you can set your profile to "Private" in the Privacy Settings accessed via the My Profile link. That way nobody can see the information in your profile and you can still use Same Same if you want.

Well thank you to that enlightening response. I am obviously not as IT clued up as you. Guess I''l just have to wipe out that name and remeber to tick private. No dummy spitting was aimed at s/s and thaks to those that responded.

No problems at all :)

Your unhappiness about this is totally understandable considering you want to be in control of who knows what about you. Especially something as sensitive as your sexuality.

hilarious you think it's an invasion of privacy yet you talk about masturbation so candidly in your profile AND you just posted your email address in your last post.

Have a look at other profiles on this site.. a profile is a chance to talk about you as a person, not about your sexual history or preferred sexual encounters.

Hi Guys and Gals,
Having lived in rural nsw for many years and also being engaged with community issues (albeit mainly related to living with HIV in rural environments) can at least empathise with young Jezzy for not wanting his location disclosed.........There have been guys and gals in his area who have had to move because of damage to property and also home invasions as a result of thier details being given out in chat rooms etc (gaydar mostly!)......Even here in supposedly cosmopolitan Lismore guys have had to move because of damage to property and intimidation........When I first moved here I had the brakes sabotaged on my car and also a note left on the door saying that if I didn't move my house would be burnt down.( these incidents scared the shit out me I can tell you but chose not to make a big deal out of either event as as not to give the gutless bastards the satisfaction of succeeding) Often in rural area's homophobic bashers use the internet to locate their next 'event".......This has already been happening in New York where they are posing as gay men on Recon and arranging to meet their intended victims and it aint for sex!..........
For those of you living nr or around the scene in a metropolitan environment who don't have to think about violence unless you go to our once safe and friendly Oxford Street.........PLEASE acknowlege that privacy issues and location disclosure happen to be a sensitive issue for rural GLBTI still and till we get better responses from GLO officers in rural police stations (still very few) it will remain an issue.
This thread does also show that not all people here are internet savy (like me too!LOL) ......My advice to Jezzy is locate yourself in brisbane or sydney when filling in your profiles and hey.......As for the masterbation?.....don't forget to top on your zinc!:D
Regards to all,
Nick
