As I move into my forties, I find myself getting more and more tense, nervous and jittery even about trivial matters. I get worried and anxious even with the small things like family members coming home late, the kids’ not getting great results in school. The palms of my hands and the soles of my feet start sweating and I feel so stressed and really down. I need a remedy.

hahaha Ammonite....how about meditation?

it's good and bad, it helps you but only temporarily, it's kind of like a bandaid - you meditate and feel awesome and then 2 days later your locked in a bathroom somewhere breathing through a paper bag, trying to imagine your happy place, so you meditate again... but you also need to try and find a more long term solution like therapy and medication.

www.inspiredwomen.com.au has the answer to your problem. The site recommends an innovative way for women to take care of themselves and start living all over again with renewed enthusiasm, vigour and energy in life. Women can now put boredom on the backburner and lead a life of purpose and empowerment with the help of regular massages and coaching using neurological linguistic programming.

I think a large Scotch and Scotch helps. And even if it doesn't you have an excuse for feeling awful.

indeed. I am rather jittery myself right now, but if I didn't have my meds I'd probably be either curled up on the floor or trying to jump off a building.
It's pleasant to feel just mildly insane rather than full tilt.

Perhaps if you stopped reading and believing in strange quotes you would not feel so down. Remember you only get one chance at jumping and then nothing. You can't even asked if it was a good jump. Remember the birds will still be singing, the daffodil will still be swaying and the sun will still be shining. My ex is in a nursing home suffering from alzheimers that, my friend, is a living death. Yet it is I who am sad he seems to be in a wonderful foggy world of his own.

*sigh*

I'm not sure what you are implying but I am not some Christina Rossetti wannabe.

I believe words are indeed powerful and can cure.

Your words "....if I didn't have my meds...trying to jump off a building" that is what I was replying too. I also love words, but some are so trite.

Lost my reply!!!! Your words "...if I didn't have my meds...I would be trying to jump off a building..." I think you need a good dose of Dory Previn or Lavender Jane Loves Wimmin" However as they are probably before your time they may be out of print. Now they are what I call powerful scribes. Try and get hold of the cd (used ot be record in the '70's) Mythical King and Iguanas by Dory Previn, beautiful words in every song. Don't think you will be able to get hold of Lavender Jane Loves Wimmin it was recorded in either America or Canada in the '70's but if you can some powerful words on that too, although a little dated now. It was recorded at the height of the Women's movement.

Are there going to be any security measures put in place on the site to guard against the spambots?

Anyway, Prescotwench, I just searched on-line and I'm pretty sure you can find Lavender Jane's albums on Amazon. There's also one of her songs on youtube and she has a website, under her real or stage name of Alix Dobkin: http://www.ladyslipper.org/rel/v2_home.php?storenr=53&deptnr=279 However, I couldn't see much info on her albums on her website, but you can contact her. I like your posts too, by the way. Amusing and refreshing all at once, which is wonderful!

And bellsforher: I really enjoy reading your posts. Sorry to hear that you suffer quite a bit. The world is both a shite and remarkably beautiful place. Comedy and my passions help my ticking mind I've found. Please feel free to message me, if you like. I too admit to being a rabid Tori fan. She is sooooo dreamy, not to mention lovely!

Thank you ....violet... one needs humour when one lives in boring old Melbourne were women of the lesbian persuasion seem to evaporate after they reach the age of 60, or maybe they have retreated to the Pool table in the sky.

hey, I might be a bit lazy in the feminist department - I've only really read Germaine Greer. I grew up with hippies so I guess I have a slightly odd view of everything - which would take too long to go through here, but I have conflicting views of the womens movement. I'm still sorting out my philosophies - I don't think you ever stop.

As to the whole jumping off building thing, well, that may have been exaggeration or truth - but if you want me to look at the words you find powerful, which I would like to, then maybe you should have a glance at Tori Amos' lyrics and conversations. She is a very succinct, spiritual and strong woman who's music, literally, has kept me alive. That must be worth something.
