Are all women in the Lounge under sixty? I have reached that dreaded six zero number, actually a tad past it. I would love to know of any group or organization that has women in it who can remember 'Pennys' at the Prince of Wales hotel or even 'Les Girls' also at the Prince of Wales Hotel. Here is a few more memories, The Metro in the city, The Golden Age hotel in the city, and of course the Kingston in Richmond. I have such good memories of these days and would love to share some of the fun. Those were the days of disco and old scores to be settled. Lipstick lesbians were unheard of you were either Butch or Femme or in some case bisexual. I met my girlfriend in the Golden Age in 1980 she was in her early thirties I was in my middle thirties she swaggered in with her 'mates' and I knew straight away that she was the one I was going home with that night. Strange as I was very straight and only ended up at the Golden Age because of a lesbian friend. Well that is now ancient history we have been together now over 28 years, which unfortunately seems to be coming to an end, not my doing, gambling on the pokies finally brought us down. We weathered many storms other women, drink, jealous mates, but one cannot fight an addiction. When I was in England there was a great group called the 'Golden Oldies' for women over a certain age doesn't seem to be any such organization in Melbourne, methinks women over 60 disappear in a puff of smoke or evaporate or maybe are just too tired to start all over again, but there should be nothing stopping them from socialising. Come out, Come out wherever you are!!!!!!

Hey,

Sorry to hear that your relationship seems to be coming to an end. Not sure about where you might find a group like that but surely there would have to be one out there. Hey, why not even start one yourself as I'm more than sure it would be popular!

There may be a lot of us youngies around here but we're a friendly lot, so join in the fun and banter with us in the forums here :)

Well the tittle you have given to post is really very appropriate. Being older many problems areises but if we look after ourselves at the time we can make it less. Have you heard of www.inspiredwomen.com.au ? It is a site on the internet, which promotes good health and well-being for women. It explains a new method of creating neurological pathways to bring about long lasting change in your life.

Sorry Astina I hate Psychology and all its 'pathways'. I do know about Neurological pathways as being a teacher we 'tortured' the kids with something called NRL or someother abbreviated form of manipulating Australias future consumers. Its bad enought that the medical profession bombard us with tablets and pills for real or imaginary illness whilst trying out the pharmaceutical companies newest research on our bodies. I do not want the other side of the medical profession; psychiatrists trying out their newest theory of mind altering rubbish. But thanks anyway for your concern.
