They say in tough economic times your best defence against job loss is a good education. I don't know who says it but I read it somewhere!
Anyway, I'm considering of going back to uni and getting an MBA or Masters of some description (most likely Finance). My boss reckons the company will through in some money toward it as well... but I don't trust this statement as I wouldn't be surprised if in the interest of shareholder benefit they decide to cut this perk!
I've attempted a Masters before because I was bored at work and home. Didn't mind the study too much until I got a new job and work was a little more exciting. I'm in a similar position now in that work is busy and I can't spend half my day doing readings, and I've pretty much packed my week nights as well. So this really is a matter of career enhancement and some personal sacrifice.
So question is, Have you done post-grad study or advanced training in your field and has it helped advance your career? Has it pigeon-holed you at all (I mean really do I want to be a finance manager)? Any tips or advice on picking the right course?
