I love cooking. But more than that I love getting great new ideas for meals which I can then try, modify to my taste and then (maybe) add to my permanent repertoire of favourite meals.

So... What are you having for dinner today?

deciding on what to have for tonite. Going to the gym and that means I will shovel.

Of course it depends on what the scales say tonite when I get on them.

Usually I have seafood of some kind with salad and some chips but I think I will try this recipe for prawns with tagliatelle or just a big pile of prawn fried rice.

And if the scales are nice to me I'll buy one of those Sarah Lee Custard Danish and have me a big chunk.

Practice Ammonite ! just lots of practice.

My local Japanese place doesnt do a very good Teriyaki so I got the ingredients myself. Rather simple really but first few times came out OK then I just played around with the amounts and now have it down pat and for me its Yummo !

For years I tried Soups and Casseroles and all average. Then one day read Margaret Fulton or one of them who said always make your own stock. The day I did I never went back to stock cubes. Must admit the new Campbells Chicken Stock Paste in the tube is very good. Ran out of Chicken stock so got it as needed it that night.

I ended up making a big pile of Prawn Fried Rice and then a slab of Sarah Lee Apple Crumble with all that yummy brown sugar on top.

My personal trainer is telling me more protein and less carbs for dinner. I made a nice smoked salmon, spinach and rocket salad last night, but alas I had bread with it...

Actually wholemeal bread is quite rich in protein. But yeah it does depend on what type of bread and how it was made.

Disgusting lunch of chips and calamari with a fish cocktail thrown on top with tartare sauce and a huge handful of mini M&M's.

So I had to be good and had fresh bread with tuna and a little low fat mayo and avo .

Mind you could murder a chip butty and a slab of apple pie and cream.

I'm getting my nutrition back in order so seldom trips to Haymarket for hand thrown Northern Chinese noodles, or Chicken and Leek pies from the Swiss Bakerz on Oxford Street, or Chicken and Capituri pizza from Brazilan Box, or peanut or plain M&M's either.

I'm using Michelle Bridges 'Crunch Time' cookbook as a guide. She's got a great recipe for Chinese chicken in it.

I'm part "wog"; part "Aussie" - The "Leb" part lovvvvvvvvvvves "Samkeh Harra" (or Hot Chilli Snapper - it's snapper marinated in fresh coriander, garlic, chilli, lemon juice & extra virgin olive oil. Can be served with hoummos & tabbouleh). The "Aussie" part still lovvvvvvvvvvves a really great "Lamb Roast" with all the trimmings (and yeah I wouldn't give up the roast dinner for Tom Cruise . . . not into "vertically challenged" guys with "strange cult" beliefs . . . sorry Tom, m8)

My dinners all seem so bland compared to what you people eat! Last night, we made a strange concoction of tomatoes, lentils, Chicken Sausages, Chicken and garlic in the slow-cooker for a few hours.... Just had that on a bed of mash. It LOOKED amazing... It was just, well, a little average in flavour.

So glad I'm with someone who is good in the kitchen. My greatest culinary achievement is refried beans toasted cheese sandwiches...

Hahahahahaha!!!!!! . . . Yeah m8, my partner, Adrian, is pretty good with a sandwich maker also.

Although, over the past 18 months, I've been winning him around to "Leb" food, there's 1 dish, he just refuses to try. It's called, "kibbeh nayee". "Kibbeh" is an emulsified paste of bulgur wheat & lamb. You can roll it and even fill it with meat & pine nuts, then bake it or fry it.

Kibbeh nayee, howver, is the kibbeh paste - eaten raw. Now I could understand my partner's reluctance to eat raw food, except he's a guy who eats SUSHI . . . go figure!!!!!

So, everytime I make kibbeh nayee, my partner Adrian becomes that more proficient using the bloody sandwich maker (LOL)
