Default Transgender Job Discrimination?
So.. I'm Transgender pre-op - I hate to admit it but meh..

I been unemployed for 2 years which is really depressing..
I got heaps of experience in IT Network/System Administration and IT Security..

I been to over 100 job interviews.. applied for 6000 jobs and nothing..

I did have some people say - Oh you would be the only female so the men may not like that...
Also I can't do standing up jobs due to a leg problem so IT has always come good for me.

Question is how am i ever going to get a job if Brisbane employers seem to discriminate just cause I'm Transgender,
it's not like I'm going to go all weird on them at work or have sexual relationships while working..

What is these people's problems.. It's 2012 and they still seem to be closed minded.

*cries*

Jobs in IT are very very difficult to crack (so I hear), there are a lot of imports these days that take the jobs.
Myself used to be in science and ended up broke and lonely, no one loved me and I also owed money and noone would give me a job...

Did I mention no one loved me?

So now I got one of those bread and butter jobs but it pays better than what I was getting in science!!

Look for the money jobs, don't be a bleed heart for IT because its a skill you have but it ain't getting you in the front line.

Thanks

Agreed, IT is a very popular vocation. That means, it's an industry over-supplied with skilled workers, and will continue to be for the next 5-10 yrs minimum.
You should try to focus your skill-set on a particular area of IT.
Do you have a focus already? What skills / quals do you have?

I think you can find job eventually, don't give up there are certain people that cant accept you. You just have to accept it because that's life and its normal, were only human being that thinks differently.

Never give up, remember that straight folk go through job hunts for months , years, till they get a good job.
Don't be misguided into thinking it's a tg thing, the job market is very harsh these days,, very very harsh.

Your time to shine will come soon enough.

Cheers
