Default New to sydney, need help!
hey friends. i recently relocated to sydney,from ireland for job purposes. im a software engineer hired in an IT house. could somone guide me on insurance policies being followed in sydney please?

I don't have much idea with your concern but it's good if you tour the place so that you will get familiar about the country.

I'll assume that you mean Hospital cover when you say 'insurance'.

If you've got a sponsored visa - permament - you should be eligible to register for Medicare.

Otherwise, on a sponsored visa, you should be able to buy a private cover policy
Medibank and Bupa are two common ones, but a websearch should provide a number of options

Its also a good idea to consider getting additinoal Ambulance cover - its like $35 for the year and covers transport, first responder treatment, and any other treatments administered before transport.


If however, by 'insurance' you mean vehicle or contents, then Coles (as in the supermarket) is a reasonable place to start looking.

If you mean professional indemnity, then I'm not really sure, but perhaps some of your colleagues can offer some advice
