We're surrounded by media, bombarded with images every day. And what ever you want to find, it no doubt exists somewhere.

So is there anything left that punches us in the gut? Or are we all over it?
If there's one thing you can't lose, it's that feel.

Yes, that still shocks me - that people would still think it ok to do what they do. I think I mean more visually, aurally. We can do whatever the hell we like in art/music/video/etc, but how hard has it become to promote raw emotion these days?

Ive been sitting here thinking about what shocks me.... and im shocked that nothing comes to mind. Theres plenty of wrong in the world...theres plenty of things people do,say or act upon that i just cant stand...discriminate against, hurt children, lie, cheat or hurt other beings but nothing is a shock anymore. How sad that is.

The last thing I saw that truly moved me was Jenny Sage's entry into the Archibald, 'After Jack'. There's something I find deeply upsetting about the idea of losing a lifelong companion in old age. I went on the walk-through and had to leave the room when I heard the story behind it... I teared-up and thought I was gonna lose my shit in front of everyone in the room. How embarrassing.

I can't say I've been shocked by anything in recent times, but this definitely infiltrated my apathy for a little while.

I still get shocked by a lot of things. I guess I still have faith in humanity sometimes.

Im pretty much unshockable, after being in law enforcement for a while I saw shit that nobody should have to see. Unfortunately I believe that anyone is capable of anything given the right circumstances. I think some of the recent goings on in SS re Lazzy have unfortunately proven that again.

WOW!. Yes I would not have wanted to see some of the things I imagine you may have seen. Yes you are right re. Lazzy. I just get that "throw the arms up in the air frustration shock" about things like that and peoples ignorance and superficialness. Usually we are drawn to people who we like to think we are similar too. But I get so shocked by friends who still focus on the physical and waste breath criticising people for the way they dress, the scars they may have, the different life they chose to live that is hurting no one. Sooo I guess what shocks me now is "judgements"
This is when you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and take a step forward. Think Kryptonite.. I believe in you..

Yes! Especially on social media like Facebook or a place like this. I'm stunned at how people can take anything and make it about them. You can say "It's a nice day" and someone can be offended that you're insulting cloudy days.

People often shock me...I love just not knowing what to expect and being pleasantly amused...Enjoy surprises...

Very frustrating, I often find myself giving disclaimers at every second sentence just in case!

Then again, I'm someone who typically has low expectations of people. That way, if they disappoint me, I'm not disappointed so much. And, naturally, if they exceed my expectations, then I have more reason to be pleased.

Original topic; I can't watch or read anything that depicts torture or sexual assault. Little too close to home. Animal cruelty is also on the list.
Sometimes words are not sufficient to delineate an experience, whether it is physical or metaphysical. Love is such an experience, but just because it cannot be so absolutely defined, does not negate its presence. Instead, the very nature of encountering such a depth of feeling is tribute to love as a phenomenon that is so intricate that given all the complexities of the English language it is still inadequate.
