I don't think SS should be giving today tonight any plugs. Like the rest of the media, they completely ignore the fact that Molly is gay and has a partner.

I also have noticed how the media totally ignores Molly's partner Yan Wongngam. It's the same with Bob Brown. The media talks about Gillards partner or Abbotts wife, in fact a lot of people have stated that they did not even realize that Bob Brown had a partner.

I think it's because the partners don't want media attention.

Also when it comes to politics, there is a lot of debate around the focus on politicans partners and families and whether they really need to be brought into the political scene.

Bob Brown was the leader of a small minor party. Of course there would be less attention put on his private life than the PM or leader of the opposition. As much as Bob and some of his supporters may have liked to think otherwise he was not running the country.

Besides, media outlets were probably too worried that if they said something about Bob's partner that Bob didn't like he probably would have called for parliamentary inguiry.

The media would have gone through the right people to get a comment and more than likely asked for Molly's partners comment and may have been declined since he wanted privacy.

He's had lots of partners. Which one should be doing the interviews? One website mentions a partner from 2003 and another in 2005.

Did Mr and Mrs Peter Taylor speak to the media after their teenage children went drinking and drugging and stealing a car and run over innocent people on the footpath? No. They got a middle-aged North Shore-type lady to do that for them.

According to Meldrum's wikipedia entry, Yan Wongngam is based in Thailand and runs a courier company. Also both Molly's brothers are in the media and arts industries so it's a natural choice for one of them to be a family spokesperson.
