Default Anyone interested in joining a book club?
Hi, my name is Adriana and I have just moved to Adelaide.

Just wondering if anyone is interested in starting up a book club? Nothing too formal, just a weekly/fortnightly thing where we can meet people, read awesome books and chat over coffee/tea.

I look forward to hearing from people!

That sounds great! As long as it's not early on Sunday mornings. Was part of a book club that met early on Sunday mornings, and the hang overs/sleep deprivation ended up deterring me! Do you think monthly is more realistic? We were meeting monthly and there would always be a few people who hadn't had the time to finish the book by the time we met.

Monthly/weekly/fortnightly, whatever works for everyone. The one I was in in Melbourne met weekly/fortnightly to socialise and see where everyone was at in regards to the book. We mainly read fairly short novels ie. Dorothy Porter, Timothy Conigrave etc.

As for which day, I was thinking afternoon/evening on a week day or Saturday? Sunday mornings are untouchable, haha.

Congratulations on your move to Adelaide.

I'm a member of a book club that meets up once a month on a Saturday afternoon/evening and we are always happy to welcome new people. I haven't been very active recently so I couldn't tell you exactly how the book club stands atm but I'm sure it's still going. To be perfectly honest it is really a big excuse for a bit of a piss-up with lots of assorted nibbles etc.

We only ever did the classics though so unless you are into Jane Austen and Emily Bronte et al it might not be the book club for you. Our last book was A Clockwork Orange.
I want to live in a world where a chicken can cross the road without having its motives questioned.

Does the book club still exist or do we need to start up a new one? Shouldn't be too difficult to get going
