I spend my Sundays watching movies, today no exception. I'm running out of titles on my list, so am after some recommendations.

Today I had Sleeping Beauty, We Have To Talk About Kevin, and The Trial - 2 of which were quite confronting & different, which I like.

Omg, Sleeping Beauty is a steaming dog turd of a movie. But there was one scene where she's getting a tube pushed down her throat and starts gagging - for some reason that made me really hot.

My favourite movie of all time is 'High Noon'. But if you want confronting or different, I would recommend 'Alexandra's Project' or 'The Interview' which are both Australian movies by director called Rolf De Heer. I love a good australian movie. 'Wake In Fright' or 'Snowtown' are another two that are worth a watch.

Snowtown was ok. I like factual stuff.

I actually get what you mean about the gagging part in SB!!

I know! It totally caught me by suprise. And the funny thing was that in a movie that tried so damn hard to be sexy that was the one time it actually succeeded. Would you agree, or do you think there were some redeeming elements?

And agreed, Snowtown is a flawed movie, but I loved how casual and everyday the most brutal scenes were presented. The scenes where the violence was implicit- the boyfriend plodding into the kitchen naked after abusing the kids while the mum was off at the pokies, for example. Those scenes stayed with me long after that movie was over, and they raised the movie into another league for me.

I wouldn't call them redeeming elements, I was disappointed in it after wanting to see it for so long. Plus, the ending was annoying. I think she could of been portrayed as much more innocent also.

Ok. It's difficult to imagine that anything much short of starting over would have improved that movie for me. The premise sounded so great.

I have just *hired* 'KIDS', so I shall report back to you re: that one. I love movies, especially niche ones. The local video shop actually warns everybody when they hire a movie with subtitles. I find that really sad.

What a warning! Haha! If you like KIDS, I will recommend some others by same director.

How funny, Svettles - I was only talking about Moon not ten minutes ago. It's great, isn't it. Sunshine was another one that I liked up until the last twenty minutes or so, have you seen that? How about Cube?

Love Moon (clearly). Haven't seen the other two but considering you put them in the same sentence I'm going to have to. Haven't watched many movies in the past year apart from cinemas tbh or cause my bro put one on... I used to watch so many that I over did it and switched to Tv series lol... This thread makes me want to start again, though.

Bought Battleship on blu ray the other day... Cause I loved the epic loudness of it at the cinema and have to watch it again with the surround sound haha explosions + aliens + liam neeson = a winner

I watched Midnight Son recently, I had heard nothing about it and stumbled onto the trailer, thought to myself "well this is either going to be good or really shit" Into the good basket it went.

Lol so I shouldn't go there? It's one my brother says to watch. I put on Anti christ the other night... I was that bored I tuned out. And thats rare for me. I tend to stick with it just to see the end usually.

Love the graphic Death Proof scenes btw... Slow mo car accident is great

Yes and the girls in it were kind of cool, that's why I mentioned it.

I rate it higher than "Kill Bill" any day of the week, hands down.

It is pretty much what Tarantino is about.

For me, "Kill Bill" was just a load of commercialised rubbish.
