Default Brisbane and Gold Coast - what to see/do for 3 days each?
As part of my year-round ANZ tour prior to my becoming a legally Australian citizen, I am planning a 3-day holiday of Brisbane and 3 days in GC.

I will be traveling with a straight male friend.

Any suggestions on what to see/do?

cheers!

Where are all the Gold Coasters??
Byron bay - beautiful aqua beaches, a lovely cove, whales you can see from the lookout & quite a few hippies that abandoned Nimbin! It's the most eastern part of the Australian mainland, that's their claim to fame! Foods fairly expensive & not overly tasty (in my opinion)
You can hit the major shopping centres on the Gold Coast: Australia fair (southport), pacific fair (broadbeach), robina town centre (robina), harbourtown outlet shopping centre (biggera waters)... Personally I like robina the best very flash!
You can go on the charters for fishing, or parasailing or jet skiing!
The Sheraton mirage used to have a seafood buffet which was very nice for dinner or there are a whole lot of shops in all the suburbs if you stay in surfers there will be a whole lot of Asian restaurants & noodle shops which are pretty good.
You can do the theme parks, casino, beaches, bush walking at springbrook (good views of the Gold Coast), mt warning just over the border a tough trek I hope you've got a good heart if you choose that one! Mt tambourine if you like cuckoo clock stores, Nimbin in nth nsw which is an eye opener
Brisbane markets at westend on Saturdays, conrad treasury casino, southbank, the shopping centres....I'd recommend hiring a car & going to the Sunshine Coast, you can visit Steve Irwin's zoo, the Ettamoggah pub & attached Aussie world, underwater world, eumundi markets (be early or no parking)
If you hire a car you can go wild, especially in Brisbane I don't think you'll need 3 days there

Ooh you are a bad badtrany!
How times have you changed - you needn't travel to Nimbin anymore Nerang has become the new goody bag CBD!!

LOL ^^ ooh dear it's funny because its true, I remember checking for nails behind my tyres when I visited my sister in nerang, her neighbours gained some sort of pleasure watching people reversing over nails when backing out of driveways, I started taking my dogs in the car when I visited her they did the job well of keeping people away from my car
Why are all the troublemakers from the western suburbs

Palazzo Versace, it has a beautiful Mediterranean entrance & great foyer but when you get to your bedroom there's barely enough room to swing a cat & worse still I don't believe anybody I met there was Italian

As for people only pi$$ing in the sea - this is incorrect, they also do it from the balconies of the high rise apartments it could possibly be the origin of the term 'golden shower' so make sure you carry your umbrella with you

I just re-read my post, it was pretty tactless!!
I've spent most of my life in Qld and it is a beautiful place, there are very few places I've travelled in the world that have the bright sun and blue sky of Australia, I love returning here after holidaying abroad but what really annoys me is every time I return to Australia......the prices seem soooooo much more expensive than other countries - except France those buggars had the audacity to charge me $12 for a hotdog & that was 10 years ago

Mmmmmm if you have the choice, if I was just visiting Brisbane & the Gold Coast in Qld I'd take NZ! Qld has too much area to cover in a short time unless you want do relatively few places & very quick!
You can cover a lot more of NZ in a shorter period of time plus if you go now (during spring/summer) its a lot cooler than Qld

LOL yes it's called Fortitude Valley
I googled bodyline, I never knew of such a place some suburbs in Brisbane are similar to Sydney in that you have a higher gay population but we're quite the conservative sorts up here
Can't confirm that for you Freaky my retinas have never been exposed to such frivolities, maybe some of our Brisbane studs could shed some light on the situation up there

It's just that I remember hearing of one (mind you, it was a long time ago) and I thought that since Mr wysi was visiting (and he seems to like the Bodyline in Sydney), he could visit on his "off-time" (and when the straight guy is not around, of course).

Have you ever been into Bodyline Freaky? Next time you're up here we'll do a tour lol
I think we need to do some field research & recon lol

No not the one in Sydney (I believe they cater for ... ahem ... a "younger" demographic).

And not the Brisbane one either!

Old Freaky had a straight mate (I was one of the groomsmen at his wedding) who lived in Brisbane years ago. When I went up there, he was showing me around and drove past and pointed it out.

I know!! ....... how did HE know about it?

Old Freaky never got a "straight" (pardon the pun) answer on that one!
