Have a look back over this thread, Mr Ernesto_1. There were "bodybuilders" as we so quaintly put it back then, but no, being "gym buffed" wasn't the norm. I think this has been more of the case over the past 20yrs. Although a lot of male stars of the past liked to have an "athletic look", especially if they did action, sport or ancient Roman ("sword & sandals") type movies.
And it made things more "even" back then I think, because the average male didn't have to be worried about whether he was buffed enough in comparison to the stars and pin-ups of the day, like they do today.
