Default So, how the hell do we meet people...?
Hiya,
My partner (of 14 years) and I moved to Perth from NZ six months ago, and - having now done the house/pool/landscaping thing - would really like to get socialising. We're not really into the gay scene as we are totally committed, but it would be great to meet some other gay couples. Any thoughts?? Cheers

Hey there! Not many Perth people here on SS I think, but we're still a friendly bunch. There's not a huge gay scene here. There's a few events that you can find on here or more localised, on OutInPerth.com (I think that's the website).

There's also a ballroom dance class on Tuesday nights for same sex couples (although you don't have to have a partner for it). I actually am one of the teachers. If you'd like to join us, come at 7:30pm next Tuesday. Class is $15 from what I can remember (I don't handle the money at all lol). There's several beginners at the moment so don't worry about it if you haven't danced before. The advanced dancers start at 6:30pm and then come help out with the beginners to give you a variety of people to dance with in the progressives and to help out dancing with the singles.

It's loads of fun and a great way to have fun doing exercise! I think we mainly have couples at the moment from memory, and everyone is really friendly! It's at Mt Hawthorn Community Centre on the corner of Scarborough Beach Rd and (waits for google maps to load so that I can remember the street name) ahh! The Boulevard. There's a primary school neary too. If you're interested in coming, and not sure of how to get there, just let me know.

I think theres a Badminton class somewhere as well, on the same night. Not sure where though. I've never been since my time is taken up teaching the dance class.

And of course there's always me! I'm always up for a chat although the person I'm seeing is across the other side of the country Amazing girl though!

All the best xx

Apparently iPhones and Grindr are all the go these days. And what gay scene? Why does there have to be a gay scene whenever gay people want to get together? Just sayin’

I hear a lot of good stories about Gaydar doing wonders for those not so east. I know that on the website, there's a "couples" tickbox so maybe that'll help.

Some of us don't have many gay friends, hence the need for events and things to get together and make new friends. It's a nice way to make new friends It's not easy to live in a straight world!

Hi everyone
Thanks a lot for your responses.
I'm kinda with just-dance : not so much looking for any 'gay scene' (quite the reverse), but it's always good to hang out with some gay friends.
Cheers.

Right on. Everyone needs to hang in their "tribe" in order to have good mental health. If there's nowhere that we can socialise and feel totally respected and safe, then that's a recipe for high cortisol levels and ill health.

Chilling with buddies is good medicine.

Well we could arrange a get together of the Perth forumers. We could go bowling or see a movie or do something like that together. any suggestions? maybe if anyone is interested in camping, we could go camping one weekend (obviously after we've met! lol)

Nomde! I'm no longer the only girl here! yay!! lol

Default New around here
Hi,

New on here - my partner and I live in the Hills and were just saying we would like to meet some other couples to hang out with. It is hard if you aren't into the 'scene'. So count us in for friendship and catch-ups!

These comments are so true! If you can't find a group that suits, start your own. You're not the only couples in Perth someone has to make it happen.
