Default Who loves real electronica?
I'm Talking Richie Hawtin, James Holden, extrawelt.

You know, Drum and bass, minimal tech, progressive. Not this cheesy ass disco house you hear at gay venues... anyone?

Oy. Them's fighting words. I've been through phases of liking oldskool/Detroity techno (in particular i liked a lot on Djax-Up-Beats) and i've seen Digweed, Desyn, Omid etc but i just always come back to house because it just seems like more honest music. Music with breaks barely registers - drum'n'bass lost it when they dumped the Amens and Super Sharp Shooter basslines for fart noises and eardrum-destroying snares. And let's not even get into to minimal techno, which has more in common with a washing machine than a piece of music. I find house to be one of the few genres where the artists aren't afraid to make good riffs, mix up the instruments, have soulful vocals, add some funk and fun to the proceedings. I'll take gay disco house over the chinstroking minimal listening-to-the-sound-of-a-tap-dripping any day :-)
House music makes me moist.

BOING!!!

Yeah I do hear you (somewhat) But if you go to arq and the like, the REPITION!! I can't deal with it, I go out to hear new music not to hear old party favourites, I would go to a wedding and listen to love shack by b52's if that was the case.
Even the music that is technically good, it is predictable, same old formula.
For example:
When do you see a gay club come up with an atmoshere and like this, Deeply Progressive

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JS8vFZyxsv4&feature=related (4 min - 5 min on the vid is amazing)

Or technically amazing music like this, Amazingly minimal tech
