Default Time that is moved by little fidget wheels.
Albert Einstein said that space was time
Andy Warhol opined that : " Time is money, honey".
Kenneth Slessor, wrote that " Time that is moved by little fidget wheels- is not my time"

I have been thinking about time alot lately- and how quickly it seems to go by.

When I was a child, I remember thinking 18, was an eternity away- while at 38, it seems an eternity ago.

I am very conscious of time and do not like to have my time wasted.
I feel guilty for sleeping in, yet when depressed I love nothing more than to stare into space and procrastinate. So much so that even eating and breathing is a task.

I also remember being in my early twenties and believing I had all the time in the world. But the older I get, the more I realise what a limited commodity time actually is.

So how about you little doll faces.

What are your thoughts on time.

do you like to waste time- or do you like to make the most out of every minute of the day.
It is no measure of health- to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

Well, I reckon you should spend your time doing what you need to do, what you love doing; while being aware of what you can do.
'Wasting' time is relative. What is meaningful to you may not necessarily suit other people in terms of what gives/offers their experience meaning. If it is meaningful & helpful, no matter what you do --- it isn't a waste of time.

What is straight? A line can be straight, or a street, but the human heart, oh, no, it's curved like a road through mountains.

Time, time, time
Make time, give time, take time out
Win time, cost time, the time of your life
Spend time, sell time, the good times and the bad
Kill time, zero time, all the time in the world

Time watch, time travel, time to begin
Time table, time square, can I fit you in
Time frame, time to go, time that you grew up
But tell me...

How do you feel?

David Bowie sang;

"Time - he flexes like a whore,
Falls wanking to the floor,
His trick is you and me, boy."

I think that sums it up nicely.
If there's one thing you can't lose, it's that feel.

I remember seeing on TV how Bowie used to write lyrics by writing snippets of words & phrases on paper; then put them randomly together to form a song....

That's an old Beat poet trick too. I've tried it myself - you can get some pretty interesting stuff.

I just wish I could live forever or at least a very long time as in centuries.

Not because I am afraid to die but because there are so many things to see and do and so many things that are hopefully in the future.

I know what you mean about being 18 or so and not even thinking about time but as you get older you do wonder how long have I got to go ? should I be just sitting here typing on this computer into a forum or out and about seeing and doing everything possible ? yet I am totally relaxed when just staring outside or at a wall and just totally switching off and thinking of random things.

I read lots of sci fi and in those they tend to live long disease free lives. There are many other professions I would love to have a go at and often thought would it be great at say age 50 you go back to school/uni and learn a profession that interests you and off you go for another 25 years or so at it.

I'd like to be around for when their is a disease free world, when we explore the stars.

So I dont think its wasting time sitting there for a few hours doing absolutely nothing. It is if you have done nothing with your life, lived on the dole , stayed at home and never travelled. But thats their choice not yours. They may be happy doing that.

Now as for time travel - no way ! dont believe in it for a second.

Time - like many other things - is relative.
Time can stand still but it can also fly by. You can have plenty of time on your hands but it can also run out. At work I have banked time, but it never seems to earn interest.

Time even has medical properties as they say it can heal all wounds so why would you want to sit here just killing time?

I too, LB, am obsessed with time and how to stop it driving me insane. I find it very difficult to have a day of doing nothing (though it is a rarity) and time seems to go very fast if I do this. So even on a day off, I need to plan, arrange and compartmentalise my day, only then can I feel all the hours and minutes, as long as they are all assigned. I find it almost impossible to do 'nothing'.

I also believe in everything in life having it's own time rate - for example, we can eat a meal in 30 minutes but it takes years to become good on an instrument. With the creative work that I do, I notice how long things take... but the more time you give them, then you accelerate that process.
