Certainly was!
She's such a busy lady, it's nice to catch her in relax mode and watch her laugh lots.

As much as someone can say I love you, it's spending time together where it's easier to feel it. Felt very special to meet her lovely relatives.

Isn't it nice to get to know your partner more?

Back to our separate states now. Back in Work mode

Sounds awesome! Must be exciting for you meeting the family.

It's so nice when somebody you love makes the effort to spend time with your family, hey. It's been a mixed bag for me but I'm lucky in that my parents are very welcoming and only tell me if they weren't a fan after the fact...but luckily they've only really disliked one of the bunch.

In fact, they still invite a girlfriend from ten years ago over for dinner on occasion... I turned up one night ready to introduce a new (and very nervous) squeeze- and fuck me dead, my ex was sitting up at the table like she owned the place. Mum hadn't even thought to mention!

What do you think you would do if your family and your partner didn't get along?

Baby baby ------OMG That's a jaw dropper! Did you all end up eating together???

What do you think you would do if your family and your partner didn't get along?

Yes its so nice that my GF introduced me to her family. Some as a friend some as GF. Even as a friend it means sooo much. I didn't use to care about such things till now.

My thoughts are...sometimes people don't get along even based on personalities let alone same sex relationship stuff...and we can't always force it.

I would test the water by having parents meet my GF as friends first. So there's nothing else to impair judgment.

If they don't get along due to not accepting same sex relationships, it all comes down to our foundation as a couple.

My GF and I are a strong level headed unit... We work around others together. My partner is very sure of herself and regardless of what people say she does not falter. So that's where I am very fortunate.

My mom will have immense trouble accepting my life... But that won't affect my GF and I because my girlfriend knows I would be committed to her regardless.

As long as I am not bad for my GF or her family I guess she is happy.

I wish my mom would accept things ... and there will be a day I tell her. I keep almost bursting out...

My GF said she doesnt care either way that's where I am lucky

... Its more me. For me its more the case of.... I met the most amazing person and it feels sad I can't share the most important person in my life with mom. I am so proud of my GF

I am still happy. It's just that they're both great women who would actually get along if mom was more accepting

I don't accept everything about others so I can't expect the same from them of me, family or not.

What would you do or expect?

Well, as I said, my parents always make an effort to make my partners feel welcomed into our family. I came out to them very early and have never entertained any of their talk of boyfriends or whatever, so they soon gave up on that and got over it. A few years later one of my sisters came out too, so I think the whole gay thing is just a part of their reality now.

I've only ever had an issue with one partner, she had a few family issues of her own and I got the feeling she resented the relationship I had with mine, my siblings especially. Things got really strained in the end but by the time my family began to speak out about it I had well and truly had a gutful of her as well. They were brilliantly supportive when that ordeal mercifully ended.

The shoe was on the other foot in a following relationship though, my partner had a very overbearing mother who had a problem with the whole lesbian thing- of course I was the one to cop it. That ended with me being asked not to come to her mother's house again because 'she doesn't want to explain your tattoos to gran (who lived with them at the time)'. I have two half sleeves and they were quite conservative people. For years our relationship was icy and it put a lot of strain on the both of us for different reasons.

Anyway, rant over. I guess what I want to say is that sometimes it's just easier to humor people for the sake of your realtionship. And it's the right thing to do and all.

awww had to laugh picturing your ex at the dinner table with your parents and you and the new GF walking through the door... Must have been a little uncomfortable to say the least!

Hmmm... long term i think it does put a strain on the relationship if your family dont get along with the partner... its just harder trying to spread yourself around and get some balance/maintain contact with everyone.

My parents are the same.... they pretty much accept anyone and then after the fact will say... ohh i thought something was missing there!

Somebody ate the corn chips

I found peanuts

Cheese from my sandwich escaped from the sandwich

I managed to salvage the cheese by my super human scoop with bread skills
