Two men and two babies on SBS
Did anyone watch this incredible doco last night on SBS? Basically tracks the story of two gay men from Melbourne who were the 1st gay couple in Aus to have a baby using an American surrogate mother. They have just had their second child from the same woman in the US.
It really delved into the issue from all perspectives but it was especially amazing to see the surrogate mother who clearly was not just doing it for the money but because she believed in the cause and genuinely wanted to help the guys have a family.
The most surprising part was when they went onto Joy FM to do an interview and were attacked by the host who asked really confronting questions. He basically had a dig at them for 'buying' their babies and it being an elitist thing for rich people. Of all the people out there to hold such narrow minded opinions, the last I expected would be a host of a gay radio station.
If you can find this online or they repeat it, make sure you watch it. Amazing story! Well done to the couples out there who have decided to challenge traditional views and have a family!
