Default Morality Police ..... WTF ?
19 MAY: A man aged 62 fell to his death from the 16th level of a Kuala Lumpur hotel early on Tuesday morning as he tried to escape from Islamic morality police, the Malaysia Star newspaper reported.

The man was in a room with a 50-year-old woman when the morality police knocked on the door at 3am.

"The deceased was believed to have panicked and in his bid to avoid being caught, climbed the window ledge to get to another room," the paper said.

"This proved fatal for him when he slipped and fell."

The Star said he was a retired police officer. It didn’t name the hotel.

Malaysia’s Islamic religious department regularly conducts raids, arresting Muslim Malays for "khalwat" or "close proximity," the Agence France-Presse reports.

Under religious laws, unmarried Muslims are banned from being alone with a member of the opposite sex.

Interesting this as KL on the surface seems quite moderate. I go there a fair bit with work and there are heaps of gay men in the "service industries". I wonder if things are moving more towards conservatism even in this country.

At least the morality police were targeting straight people

but yeah whenever I have been in KL its certainly not squeaky clean etc and a bit
much raiding a hotel room when on the street so much more immoral things happen.

This not only happens in Malay but majority muslim states where religion is intrenched in thier laws.

HAHAHAHA! I wonder whether she would be allowed in Malaysia. Perhaps a bit of morality policing can be a good thing.

They have 2 court systems. One is Shariah, but only applies to people who identify as Islamic. So maybe that's the reason it seems quite moderate...?

I happen to be in Malaysia right now. And yes, I've gone back into the closet.
