Default Are these people for real???
http://www.themercury.com.au/article...days-news.html

ok fair enough, she may have not been the 'ideal' type of customer that GASP chases after but for fucksake...its fucking GASP! not Chanel or Dior! these clowns sell poyester dresses for under $150 that are made in China!!!! since when were they the fashion compass of the world?

The story compares the customers shopping expereince with the scene out of Pretty Woman where Julia Robert's character is refused service and told to leave a high end shop because she didnt look the part.

Have you guys any expereinces similar to this?

I'm glad someone posted this. I was going to but was too lazy.

I thought that the behaviour of the sales bitch was bad enough (hands up those who think Chris is a snooty queen), but the response letter is unbelievable. It's like something out of an Ab Fab sketch.

wow. i wonder if the retail assistant "chris" was a tad embarassed at some of the over the top superlatives being attributed to him by his employer. like this pearler; "Chris is a retail superstar, who possess unparalleled ability"

My favorite was that he knew she wasn't go to buy anything before she even left her house.

I dont impulse buy.

If something is over say $100 I will check it out and go away. May come back for another look. When I try it on though it is to buy and just getting the right fit etc.

But if I ever get attitude/ pressure to buy I walk away.

But the response from the Company will come back and bite them in the arse. Great PR.

I saw this on A Current Affair. Even though it was her story, the complaining customer didn't appear on camera - very telling. All the more so given that ACA kept putting up an unflattering picture of her. Just whose side were they on?

Its nice to know that if GASP ever goes broke (after this laughable PR performance, its looking more likley) Micheal Chigdey will have quite abit of trouble trying to find another job in retail managment or PR ever again.

ACA must have done some nifty scheduling work to fit that new story in, with their thursday night shows usually contains a story about how to reduce your power bill (complete with a woman that sits in the car during the day because its cheaper than having the heater on in the house), another story about people who have received fines for a toll road they havent been on, and then a story about two neighbours who cant get on

And Chris will be lucky if he gets to say "do you want fries with that?"

Maybe it's getting warmer and the woman doesn't have to sit in her car all day. They need something to fill up that hole.

Besides, if she's that poor what's she doing owning a car?

I lose my patience with the general public at work. Its hard to 'nice' to trash 24/7.

What is it with women and weddings anyways?!

Don't wanta flog a dead horse, but I just re-read it and had to pull out these two pearlers:

"Our product offerings are very, very carefully selected, so to ensure that we do not appeal to a broad customer base"

Bu the absolute best one:

"Similarly these items are priced such that they remain inaccessible to the undesirable"

Seriously, you couldn't write this as comedy if you tried.

The stupid thing is he is trying to make out as of the store is a some ultra luxury fashion house on the same platform as Versace or Louis Vutton. The guy is so fucking deluded.

Its like a bad joke.
I read pages of online readers comments and many want to go into the store on Chapple and waste the assistants time

This boy (Chris) sounds like he could be someone from these very forums
But the girl who wrote back instead of pooring cold water on it, inflames the customer further, FAIL.
I feel they will all be wishing it was handled better after it went viral.

I thought it would be cool if lots of people went in there carrying Supre bags.

When I first read it I thought the person who responded was female too, but then I noticed in the Mercury it says that his name is Matthew. I sense a strong feeling in the force that Matthew may be part of the Samesame target demographic too.

even if it happened to be a stunt, the brand itself is pretty much tarnished.

It does indeed seem too ridiculous to be real.
It's also a double edged sword....
On one hand it creates a lot of interest in the brand and makes people take a look at the website or possibly one of their stores like I just did this afternoon. (some vile clothing)

On the other hand it puts some people off the brand, and in most cases they would be people the proprietors would not see as their target market.

My Nana says... any publicity is good publicity
