Default Melbourne weather :(
Until recently things were good - we were getting proper summer weather, sunny days and warm temperatures.

Aaand now it's cold again BUT IT'S ONLY FEBRUARY! Summer hasn't even officially ended! I demand a refund!

I'm not ready for cold weather, not now.. not ever. What are some suggestions for dealing with the chill?

Go to a nice cafe and have something hot to drink. I don't mind the cooler weather

The colder the better, as far as I'm concerned.
I hate the heat.

Cold weather is easier to manage, but the wonky weather takes a toll on my health sometimes

Yeah today I just cowered indoors avoiding the heat. Sounds boring but mild is best.

It's been so weird for me. I'm a recent convert from Sydney, now living here, and the weather has been a bit crazy. Normally it's Melbourne that gets the rainy mild days and Sydney with the "more improved" weather... but not last summer! I was actually really enjoying those few days of extreme heat down here just recently.

I'm certainly not a fan of the cold, by any means- let alone rain.

Yeah if reliably hot summers or winters with sunlight are important, then Melbourne is not the place for you.

I get whammied by Seasonal Affective but was ok during the drought years when summers were hot and sunny and I was able to get dosed-up. But now that we're back to 'normal', the lack of propre summers for the last two or three years and the short days, low light levels, and cloudy-rainy winters have got me thinking about a move.

If a place leaves you feeling sick, lethargic, and glum, then it doesn't really matter how interesting its takeaway-options, lively its laneways, or well-prepared its coffee is.

This winter DOES seem to be more drawn-out, more overcast and gloomy than others in the recent past.

I did notice that the neigbour's Quince trees are blooming and the Magnolia buds are swelling a t the place up the road.

That said, I did get a tub of Vitamin D supplements to help me pull thru the winter slump

I think we're meant to have at least 20mins of sun exposure a day during Winter... which is quite hard when there is no sun or it's not possible to get outside...

Its such a shame that they put a city the caliber of Melbourne in such a lousy place

Count down to Spring and hopefully somewhat warmer weather with a touch of sunshine

do you think weather in MEL would be great around mid-September 2012?

Well the forecast for the next few days is in the 13 degree range with hail and showers not ruled out!

Mid-September is only a fortnight away, soooooo . . . .. .

In September it will almost certainly be cooler -and probably wetter - than in Syd. The flip doesn't usually happen until December when Mel becomes hotter and dryer than Sydney for the summer. Regardless of the temps and precip, the sunlight down here is always a bit anemic in comparison to the cities further north. Nights will likely be chilly, so don't leav your jumper at home!

Oh, I managed to get a reasonable summer last summer. Moving north of the Divide made a huge difference! More sun year round, and warmer than Melbourne in the summer months. Only downside is no beaches! LOL

Supposed to be sunny and 34 down there. 33 here in Bendigo, with lots of sun. Cooler tomorrow in Melbourne, the heat stays on up here.

On the edge of the hills, rolling hills here, but just a little further north, it's dead flat.

Things aren't looking good for a summer this year

21st the sun starts going north again and the days get shorter
