Default New to Melbourne. Looking for friends :)
Hi all, I just moved here from Newcastle, originally from Singapore. I'm new to Melbourne although I live quite far in Notting Hill (working at Monash). I love to hang out and chill at bar/pubs/cafes and the occasional parties. I'm pretty open about suggestions too, since I've nothing to do over here in the east! I'd love to meet new people and very willing to travel all to way to the city for drinks.

Would you be working at Monash Clayton then? I'll be starting there at the end of February. We could do an on campus catch-up. I live further out that's all, about another half hour to 40 mins drive.

yea, I'm working at monash clayton. Just started about 3 weeks back. Are you working or studying? I'm keen on a campus meetup sure! just let me know when and where. I'm new to all these forum things, and I was getting a bit worried that no one would reply!

It could be good to focus on other interests or activities that you enjoy, and that by doing them, and being natural about it, you might find that you meet others with shared interests with whom you also click.

It didn't come across clearly whether you were specifically looking for romance or to enlarge the soacial circle, but sometimes sorting a pool of attractive people with the "compatability filtre" is less effective than sorting a pool of compatable people with known shared enthusiasms with the romantic or "damn, he's hot" filtre.

Maybe have a look at MeetUp to find different local groups of people who enjoy the same kinds of thing that you do. Even though MeetUp is not as a whole gay-targeted or exclusive to LGBTI members, it is unlikely that you'd be the "only one in the village".

Thanks for the advice longhornie, I've already done/on the way to do some of these things. Well I did mention that I'm looking for friends in my title, not looking for any romance at the moment.

I'll be studying at Clayton this year so yes, don't mind a meet. Which area of Monash will you be working? I'll be in Law; which is near the bus terminal. I should know more once I can generate my timetable and naturally during orientation week :-)

I'm seeking friends too, not up for dating or romance atm.
