Tropical Alternatives Film Festival

Entries are open now for the Tropical Alternatives Film Festival (TAFF) in the short film and advertisement categories.

The film advertisement competition is open to people with a connection to Queensland LGBT communities who have created a short ad, no longer than 90 seconds, about LGBT alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. First prize is a whopping $1000, second prize is $500 and third prize $250. All winners plus a selection of other ads that impressed the judges will be shown at all TAFF screenings throughout Queensland from May-July 2012.

The short film competition has a first prize of $500 and filmmakers are invited to submit films under 20 minutes which portray our lives and our stories and convey the realities and joys of LGBT lives.

All entries must be received by 5pm April 30, 2012.

The Tropical Alternatives Film Festival presented by Healthy Communities is the only regional queer film festival in Queensland which celebrates queer issues through film.

Films selected for TAFF seldom receive mainstream theatrical or television release making TAFF an important exhibitor of shorts, features and documentaries from all over the globe. The Doctors Wife and Orchids have won international film awards.
