Default Hiv Traveler
Hi, I'm a Chilean who wants to go to Australia. It is a country with restrictions for people with HIV. If anyone has information to help me, I'll be fully appreciated.

I need information:

- What restrictions are there to enter Australia.
- Which institutions provide health services free or paid.
- What organizations exist in Australia to help people with HIV.

regards

I would check with the department of immigration website to get information about both visiting or emigrating, or start at the australia.gov.au web portal. From there you can search for immigration, health and other government department information.

Australia does have a universal public funded health system and there are reciprocal health agreements in place with 10 other countries for those who visit here. Chile is NOT one of them., so any health needs you have you will have to pay for or have health insurance of your own.

As far as I know there is no requirement to disclose your HIV status as a visitor. However, should you need care or medicines you will have to pay your own way. There may be limited support from community support which is not government funded.

Default dual citizenship
I have a dual citizenship, Italian and Chilean. Italy is a country that has health agreements with Australia?

To qualify under the reciprocal agreement you need to be a resident of Italy, not just a citizen. The law here requires all persons to be residing in the country where reciprocal agreements exist and your passport will show this.
