I presume Yosemite NP, Grand Canyon or even Hoover Dam don't interest you? Only takes a day to drive from San Fran to Vegas. You could go via LA & West Hollywood, even taking the coast road and stopping at Hearst Castle at San Luis Obispo on the way to LA.

only thing I'm 'bitter' about at the moment is waking up at 4.30am instead of my previously usual 5.15am for the gym - oh ... and its BITTERLY COLD in the mornings at the moment !! lol

If you're into beaches - Carmel.

You could go skiing at Mammoth (you can often ski in summer there). It's on the road running east from Yosemite to Vegas. After Mammoth, cross into Nevada via Death Valley (lots of Indian stuff to see there). Whatever you do, hire a car - because you can get to places & do things that interest you.

Hoover Dam (to the east of Vegas) is really interesting if you're into art & architecture. It's not just a bloody big dam. It's all Art Deco sculpture and architecture built the facilities and the power stations - quite phenomenal. I came across it by total accident - driving from Grand Canyon to Vegas - all these cars parked in the middle of nowhere, then all these tourist signs. I had to stop the car to check my map see where it was. Even then, I had no idea of the architecture of the place. Back in the car. It wasn't until I started seeing all this stuff from the car window that I had to stop to have a look around.

thanks Irene for the bitter and discontented holiday hints !! lol (Just to let u know - it's my somewhat annual USofA west coast trip - been there a few times now - hiring my usual SUV so that I can be as BIG AND HIGH as every other yank tank - doing my usual Vegas thing (lounge around without gambling !) and shopping shopping shopping !!!!! (just have a week spare between SF and LV and wondering where to go without driving for hours - but hey - that's normal there).


anyway... back to bobby's predicament : HILARIOUS !! You should have provide her with 'bitter and twisted' comments - like "darling, I might gay - but at least I'll be going home with a guy tonight - unlike you !!"

There are so many things that piss me off, even when narrowed down to a single day, so it's hard to know where to begin - but I'll start with people on the street.

I'm really not a fan of spitting on the street, so when nealjames spat all over Scandinavia, I was appalled. Yet, I was ready to concede that my smoking and my farting in the hotel rooms more than made us even.

What really pisses me off, is when guys (young good-for-nothings) walk past me on the street and then spit directly after they've passed me. Like, right behind my heels, so that I walk a few paces and then look back at my heels to see if I've actually been spat on. It seems a really purposefully agressive thing to do. And I just don't understand why they would do that?

Children today need a bloody good spanking and to be taught respect and common decency.

Sorry Mervatron the bitterness happened in another thread maybe we can merge them.
