Default Austerity Meals
Ok, I’ve been unemployed for a long time now and a constant stream of CVs sent out is still only met with 'No thanks' replys.

I am getting REALLY tired of eating the same rotation of cheap meals so VERY keen to hear more suggestions for nourishing, inexpensive menu items. The bigger variation from below, the better

Here's what I've been eating:

Brekkie
Peanut butter Toast

Snacks
Fresh Carrot Slices

Lunches/Dinners

  • Pasta with broccoli and chili-tomato sauce
  • Packet-mix Green Curry
  • Kanga-Sangas – pan-roasted capsicum slice, kanga steak, avocado on an after-8 Woolies discount roll
  • Minestrone Soup, apple slices, and bread-rolls

I have a slow cooker and make beef stews.

2 kilos of diced beef @ $16 per kilo cooked with potatoes, carrots etc and served on rice and other veg makes about six hearty servings.

Soup is pretty freaking amazing too. Pulls me out of the poop if I'm short on cash. Love having it on a cold night with some nice crusty bread.

agreed on the soup options! thats why its right there on the list! VERY satisfying - would be eating that regardless of how the budget was looking!

I may have to think about getting a slow-cooker - that must smell amazing when you walk in the door
