Default Word of the Week
At work I was talking to one of my collegues. She was bitching about a customer and in about 2 paragraphs she called this person patronizing about 10 times. God honey, you need to expand your vocab. lol

I admit............I tend to use one word more then most without even realising it. This week it's.........................Hyperactivity. I think I have used this word about 6 times in the past two days.

So......just wondering if its just me or do you have a word of the week. You don't have to be awear that your saying it 24/7, but you have noticed that you have said it more then appropriate amount of times or just can't be bothered thinks of another word with the same meaning.

P.S. I would not make a good editor that's for sure.

P.P.S. It would be even better if you have the meaning too!

Here's mine;

Hyperactivity -
Noun - The condition of being hyperactive and/or a condition characterized by excessive restlessness and movement.
Adj - Highly or excessively active: a hyperactive thyroid gland.
Having behavior characterized by overactivity.
Having attention deficit disorder. Not in scientific use.

i seem to have become a fan of the word 'problematic'

not sure where i picked it up from, but i catch myself saying it heaps lately

i think i mite also ask 1 or 2 of my classes what words/mannerisms they'v picked up ... students are always good at that sort of stuff, so il b interested to hear

(should be funny to see what they think i say/do with regularity, especially the stuff im not consciously aware of)

and il report bac

LOL @ Ants. You little treasure you...

I tend to have a word of the year. last years was CONGRUENT. I swear I got to use this word so many times I burnt it out. I first came across the word when I was studying welfare @ Uni and couldn't stop using it.

This year tho my fave overused word is WEIRDO gawd everything is weird to me and most people are weirdo's. I use it instead of curse words. Plus the way us Aussies speak it always sounds as tho the R is not present... like weedo LOL

I love it... weirdo! TFF

haha Dread, I use weirdo quite a bit. I also have a really annoying tendency (for myself and others) to reply with "Your Face".

As for a word, I do tend to use 'Unfortunate' quite a bit ... usually at the wrong time and as it would seem in an uncaring tone...definitely not intended!!!

I use "How funny" all the time. Kinda anoying once I realise I said it, telling myself quietly to "shut up" most of the time too.

lmfao, priceless. I'm going to start using that as of right now... "your face", specially to those fantastic people in general public who find the need to publicly point out I'm a he/she. I can just see it a group of leb guys yelling at me "you he she" in George st to me replying out loud "ahhh your face!!!!" omg tff

OMG Ants, our Drummer Lauren says "How Exciting" to everything.. I reckon I'll catch her one day by saying something real depressing, catch her off guard...

Jade - "My uncle died from an electric shock before a train hit him"
Lauren - "How Exciting!! oh I mean erm"

LOL

Default Not a word, but action
Don't think I use a word repetitively (well except for 'harder harder harder' in a personal setting - no just kidding LOL). However I have adopted a repetitive action called 'smiling'. It has different effects in different settings. Smile at a stranger and it usually affects their equilibruim! Smile in a gay setting and it can get you some interesting interactions :-)

The other day i was on a train and sitting in front of me was a bratty kid and unresponsive Mother. He was being a pain and annoying me and everyone else. So I smiled at him and said hello - the Mother quickly went into action to stop him interacting with me!

Smile and the whole world smiles with you!

I have a habit of repeating things twice. Anything I say sometimes. Really annoying too if I go to explain myself (like in the Castle - My hair lost it's moisture. Yeah, it dehydrated.) I do it a bit cause I hate silence, but it must make me sound like a condescending bitch to the people I'm talking to - like I am assuming they have no vocab. I've been trying to catch myself doing it - then I just look like I'm hearing voices if I tell myself to stop repeating lol.

Oh..and cuntyface. I've been overusing it to describe anyone worse than a bitch. So un-PC, but picked it up from a friend of mine who has been known to shout it at her partner when frustrated.

My Dad has a habbit of doing that. He's so funny and I have to constantly remind him that he has already told me what he's about to say to me. Somtimes if I let him go he will say the same thing atleast three times over a period of about 4 hours. Poor bastard is getting old. lol

Oh and I use...."especially" alot too (just read my previous thread posts). I can't help it.

another few that I have been known to use....

BINT - Very old English & very low class for BITCH !
Ever since I heard Bill Oddie use it in the 70's I've wondered ... I googled & I've been using... The best thing is that the work email filters DON"T PICK IT UP !!

Not like DICK - There is a Guy in IT here who is in a golden oldies soccer team & there happens to be 3 guys called Dick which is fine BUT if one gets an extra mention ie Man Of the Match - The email get's BLOCKED !!
eheheeee even IT can't get their stuff through !!

The other one which I have kinda made up is KONK - This is a very very useful as a Noun, Verb etc .... How many uses cal you thing of it ?

Oh My ... Funny to use & useful !!
