"This follows legislation passed last December that outlawed 'imitating the appearance of the opposite sex'." - isn't that insane? the idea of a life so restricted... well, it's beyond me. we're very lucky to not be living under such a regime.

This amounts to nothing less than state enforced terrorism. Hope these countries will be forced to change their ways once Bush is out of the office.

To be fair Islam is the official religion of Kuwait with 85% of the population being Muslim. So even though we may not understand it, that is one of the beliefs they practice within that religion and therefore it becomes the law of land. So it's not so much as the regime as it is religious based which has nothing to do with Bush. To suggest religion is terrorism is probably inaccurate then

locking up something you don't understand is not the answer... Fareish point though Honest.
I feel sorry for those living in the war-torn middle-east region... especially the gay community.
That reminds me of an article somewhere about a middle-eastern country (? I can't remember the details...) saying they didn't have any homosexuals in their country - I just raised my eyebrow and thought "riiiight" Those were bold claims - I mean, haven't they heard of the term 'the closet'?

Pretty sure that was Iran's president making that claim. And I think the situation is even worse there-Iran being the country where two gay-guys were publicly hung.

I agree....................to a certain extent. There are parts of the muslim religion that does insite violence depending how it is interpritated. Extremist take religion to a level where you can say that it is terrorism. They even turn against there own people cause this exteme teaching gets them paranoid that the people around are not truley devoted to the religion and are against them. Unfortuantely it gets to a point where they turn on themselves (aka cabin fever).

Any way back to the thread..........................this is not only happening to Gay's and Transgender, it's happening to Artists and Musicians aswel not only in Kuwait but in Iran and Syria.

I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't suggesting that Muslims incite violence against anyone. I merely stated that being 85% Muslim (the actual figure) it is most likely that will govern their laws. Whilst I don't necessarily agree with their policy I don't think we have a right to enforce our beliefs on their country and laws.
