holes and poles was fantastic!

the globe was a perfect venue with it's sloping floor and stage area. nearly everyone in the audience was sitting on the floor to watch the bands, so it was kind of like being in a picnic in the park but inside a really cool underground venue. the music was varied and really good quality - there was something for everyone there from the cream of brisbane's queer, independent music scene.

the event staging also deserves praise. the visuals behind the bands, the sound quality and the dj set up in the foyer were all well above parr. anthony and heidi's professionalism and attention to the little things really showed. not to mention that their band, dizzygotheca are a class act. but it would have been nicer to see them play a little bit later!

the crowd was also a mixed bag - bears, leather boys, west end girls, musos, scene queens and the rest. everyone i've spoken to said they had a great time and are looking forward to the next one.

congratulations to the holes and poles crew! i'm sure there is room in the brisbane calendar for another event before the year is out. it's great to see so many independent music, performance and other events happening in brisbane (reminds me of what it was like in the 90's). there are many people out there who are looking for more. it's a lot of work to pull off a successful event but from the looks of things, the effort has definitely paid off!

and if you're reading this, and you didn't get along to this event... then make sure you go to the next one! events like this don't happen very often so grab the opportunity while you can!

i have been listening to dizzygotheca's 'wooden heart' on their site ON REPEAT. it's so good... and a friend of mine suggested them as a band to play at queer collaborations this weekend in tasmania, but then someone else ended up getting the gig... but i think word is spreading about these guys...

Holes and Poles was an amazing night!!

thanks to everyone that was involved and attended.. such an overwhelming response from people on the night!

a massive thanks goes to the bands that offered their time to play..

at the moment it looks like we have raised around 700$ for charity ( just waiting for a few loose odds and ends to be tied up )

will post some pics from the night soon!

p.s.

thanks for the kind words on Dizzygotheca

Hey folks here are some photos from the night. More pics can be found on my website @ http://www.phatpad.com.au

Twas a great, but chilly night. I really like the Globe, it has such a nice feeling about it - although the sound guys need to sort their stuff out I did arrive a little late, so I don't have pics of all the bands... (and I'm limited to 4 pics here)

Girl with Cake

Twist Oliver Twist

Master and Stryker
