Are you the only SS user on your PC, do you log out everytime using the log out button ?

yes, i am the only user on my computer
i've seen this on a friend's PC and i thought it was only because of their set up with network/browser, etc but now i've seen it (twice) on my own.

and BTW when i log in, there are NO unread messages

i don't have to post this stuff - but if the site admins aren't really interested then there's no need to i guess..........................

This issue is caused be the caching of ajax requests, and sometimes how your browser handles the cached results of these ajax calls.

We have seen similar issues happen in our development servers when we have to log on and log off and on again as various users, and we've got an upcoming upgrade release to samesame which will certainly allow us to isolate the issue much better.

In terms of security there is nothing to be alarmed about, as each page in SS cross checks that you have the correct permissions to access the pages your visiting.
