Default Edward Cullen
OK he may be straight and FICTIONAL. But who here on SameSame is guilty of loving this guy? Well believing there in love with him. I mean you may be the 587362387612512876127861286th person wo is in love with him but hey!

I admit I read the novels a long time ago before the movie hype because a friend had told me the novels involved vampires of which I am a big fan of. And after watching the movie last night sitting amomgst the millions (ok I exaggerate) fangirls, I was still entranced by Robert Pattinson's performance of Edward although he was rigid at first.

Come on admit it...!

i love the book's but somewhat imagined him differently, though i confess i havn't seen the movie yet i will go see it at some stage. Funny Daniel Radcliffe was a tad rigid at first too but he seems to have settled down a heap in the role, maybe this might be the story with Robert Pattinson

I'm not really a fan - he is a bit too cute/boylike for me.

I prefer them to look like men...but he is def a cute one (for those that are into boys)

Twilight is the worst thing to happen to vampires since Anne Rice turned Christian.

It's utterly utterly awful writing. With entire chapters devoted to how pretty he is, and this whole 'save yourself for marriage' message is terrible and it's giving teenage girls insanely unrealistic expectations of boys.

Stephanie Meyer is the Dan Brown of teenage girls :P

This little stain of a human shits me beyond tears. These pseudo sensitive pretty boys should spend less time in public and more time in graves.

Would argue it's not really a vampire film; the first half is freakin' ACE, kinda like Gus Van Sant directing "Gossip Girl".... Edward/Robert ? Sigh...

I'm not attracted to homo-erotic, gothic emo-vampire chic.
This guy is two degrees away from looking like a meth junkie.
Plus I think it an injustice to fantasize about someone who is unavailable - fictitous or not. The character is straight.
He's not even alive - or human. Just like a meth junkie.

I think you're mostly right. Save for one thing. Dan Brown is not a wonderful writer and his books aren't all 'that', but Stephanie Meyer's Twilight is so, so much worse. For what it's done to gothic literature, but mostly for it's message, and for it's writing.

I watched a pirated version of the movie, it's almost as bad as the books (which is saying a lot).

I admit he kind of grew on me as the movie went on. It's a difficult character to play but I think it worked.

I do have some parts of the book which don't sit well with me (the extent to which Edward's beauty is described etc.) but I always enjoyed it as a piece of fairly mindless entertainment. I don't think Stephanie Meyer is a polished writer but she created interesting characters and an interesting world that I wanted to read about. The film captured most of the things that I loved about the books (i.e. the differing personalities of the Cullen family and Bella's feeling of being an outsider).
