Funny...

What is up with the gay scene? I have been out twice and can't find a crowd. Is 12am too early? Any suggestions for a place near City Center? Recommendations on your favorite top 3 places to see/do?

Love the photo...

I am looking for an adventure into the unusual. Love a good drag show (not that drag is unusual). An odd party is a good thing. What are your top three recommendations for a fun time i this city. I am open to anything!

Hey Carlos,

If you're after a drag show, you should try either the Greyhound Hotel - Classic Saturday Night, (http://www.greyhoundhotel.com.au/classicsatnite.htm) or Bar 326 in St Kilda. I went to the Greyhound a few weeks ago and had an awesome time!!

Yeah I think everyone goes to the places j001 mentioned...or x-change in commercial road prahran.....I'm the wrong person to ask, I hate drag lol..

You know what you should do, head to Hares & Hyenas bookshop in Johnston Street in Fitzroy and pick yourself up a copy of the local gay papers...they're free and they have all the venues listed and photo pages and stuff so it will probably give you a better feel of what each place is like.

There is a gay beach at Port Melbourne. Its at the very right end of the sand, just before you hit the piers. If yo utake the light rail to Port melbourne/Station Pier terminal you just keep heading right. you have to take a short walk through a fairly Stepford-ish upscale housing estate to get there.

The beach itself is shallow, sandy and basically all about gay dudes (with occassional stray Muslim families, which makes its interesting) sunning themselves (in speedos, its not a legal nude beach) , then "wandering" off into the bushes behind for some in-the-open action. So its a pretty cruisy (some might say, seedy) scene, but hey, worth checking at least once. As are most things afterall!

Beachwise I'd suggest Sunnyside Beach just out of Mornington, this is a legal nude beach and many gays attend. Night times are best as it brings more guys out even though day times are fine. It's a beautiful beach once you walk over the rocks as the sand is gorgeous.
