Default True Blood
Has anyone else seen this series?

I'm working my way through the episodes. I've seen the first three. It's not too bad, it's a bit of a mix of Anne Rice, Buffy and Six Feet Under. I feel though that it's not as good as Ball's other series/movies because he's limited to keeping it true to the novels.

I do like the New Orleans twang, and Ryan Kwanten is uber hot, as usual.

The allegory of Vampires = Gays is a bit over the top at times but I do enjoy how they use it. A sign in the intro reads 'God Hates Fangs' and there are a few TV debates between Christians and the Vampire League about the vampire's right to exist with everyone else.

What is straight? A line can be straight, or a street, but the human heart, oh, no, it's curved like a road through mountains.

Yeah, it's not bad. Interesting to see a series set in the Bayou. I like the atmosphere and look. I think the Bill character is OK, but he's no Angel.

My favorite character would have to be Tara though.
And even though it's great to see Ryan Kwanten naked for most of the series personally I think Sam is hotter. Oh and Lafayette of course.

And the Vampire/Gay analogy is so obvious, though maybe some Americans might not get it, then again it is on HBO, it would be better if they made it slightly more subtle. I find it quite unrealistic the way everyone in a small Louisiana town accepts Lafayette seemingly without question, though it is a show about Vampires, so I guess it's unrealistic to begin with.

All in all it's a nice diversion.
Now, Dexter is something I can really sink my teeth into.

Haha, Bill is no Angel. I'm glad they avoided the temptation of making him like Edward Cullen but he is still a bit cliche at times.

I thought the deliberate acceptance of Lafayette was just a typical Ball, thing, though.

I love Tara too, so much sass.

Dexter is brilliant. Jimmy Smits was particularly good in the most recent season.

Yeah me too. I loved Six Feet Under, it was one of my fav shows plus Anne Rice's books are just amazing. Totally would love to play a homoerotic vampire anyday *lick lips*
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Did anyone else here ever get into Kindred the Embraced?

It was aired around when the X-files ended

How good was it though to see a genre show like True Blood nominated for a few Emmies, and not in the technical section. And congrats Anna Paquin!

Now if only BSG could be so honoured.

Okay, I'm loving Eric, even though he's really not what I would usually find attractive. (and this is a bad photo)
