This year seems to have been a pretty good year in terms of gigs and concerts. Adelaide has done pretty well in '07 - we managed a few of the big acts, and a few of the small. HOWEVER, we still miss out on more of our fair share of events. Here's a non-exhaustive list:

Patrick Wolf
Blonde Redhead
Bloc Party
Regina Spektor
The Killers (later this year)
Joanna Newsom
Lou Rhodes (of Lamb)

And the list goes on... To worsen things, a lot of bands just do "DJ Sets" at festivals such as Parklife or Big Day Out. Honestly, a DJ set is at least something, but it pales in comparison to an actual set.

I guess the thing that gets me is, I'm willing to pay to go to Melbourne or Sydney to see the big acts, but it just seems so unfair! :P

we are much better off than we were a few years back when the dollar was so shithouse that practically no overseas acts came to australia at all!!

Mmm I suppose you have a point... I just get angry because I figure money spent on going to melbourne or sydney could be spent on other concerts, if they only came to Adelaide!

Ah, and don't forget Tegan and Sara. I'm trekking off to see them in Melbourne and Sydney but it would have been nice of them to come back here again.

Doc Moreau, you need to send all that "unfair" energy to your parents for either moving to S.A or not leaving!

Yeah, I think a lot of it is about $$$$$$. At least you're in a better position than someone living hundreds of kilometres inland. As you point out, you are within reach of Melbourne or Sydney, though it would be financially impossible for many people.

lol darling, you are sweet, well yes as you know i do Love The Killers, well not the ones on crimelibrary.com but the group. I rarely do concerts these days due to the fact that not many bands I actually like come here anyway but wouldnt mind seeing The Killers for sure. Tegan and Sarah are friends of his I guess? Do they belong to Bananarama? Im not sure. Bjork is okay but I prefer her bashing up photographers work mainly.
