Same sex rights are coming up for a vote this year, over here
in the States. I have been in a relationship for way too many
years for politicians to take everthing away from us. Don, in
Tampa Fl USA

As a member of PFLAG Queensland I would appreciate knowing the
latest developments to pass onto my colleagues and of course
all our same sex orientation members within our community.

As someone who got "hitched" in Sydney, thanks to the
extra-territorial powers of the UK Civil Partnership Act (and a
dual nationality partner), it seems ridiculous that Australian
legislators haven't caught up with most of the civilised world.

My partner is in Bris, I am in the UK, we are having a civil
partnership service here this summer.... Just wondering when Mr
Rudd will allow me to live with my long term partner... without
humongous airfares and jet lag being our status quo?

It will happen, there just not wanting to take the cork outta
bottle so to speak, they are making us age abit more gracefully
in there belief. Australia needs to get with it, the whole
world needs to learn and understand it's normal, n we wil
fight!

My partner and I were 'Civil'd' in the UK and now we have
relocated to Oz we have to remind ourselves that we don't have
the same rights although I came into Australia on a partnership
visa, something of a conundrum!

Still such a long way to go to get equal relationship
recognition (remember, relationship registration has less legal
status than registering your dog), plus overturning the
exemptions that the Churches have from anti-discrimination
legisation.

The rightwing religious lobbies comprise the main organised
opposition to equal rights for same sex couples. We are told we
live in a secular society with separation of church & state.
Why then should we be treated as second-class citizens?

What I dont understand is how quickly and blindly we will
follow America into war, But when more and more states and
countries all over the world are legalising gay marriage, the
Aus gov needs to take its time and really discuss the issue in
depth?
