Here's the 1st episode ofAussie queer school drama'Subject to Change'

The pilot episode of an exciting independent Australian coming of age drama series has just landed on YouTube, gathering a keen audience and loads of great comments.

Subject to Change features the lives and loves of same-sex-attracted students front-and-centre, following their complex and conflicting emotions in the fraught reality of Australian suburbia now.

The series revolves around very close and unique friends: neat freak Ben, tomboy Karly and drama queen Evie.

In the first episode, Ben is anxious to meet his mystery online boy-crush, while Evie agonises over her body image and crippling desires. Meanwhile, Karly reveals her singing talents with an all-too-appropriate cover of Missy Higgins’ “Secret”. Hedley High newcomer Ethan intrigues them all.

Check out the first episode below.

When we chatted to Subject to Change’s Director/Producer Daniel Mercieca and Production Manager Rory Delaney in November 2014, they were hopeful their show would get picked up as a series on a local TV network. We’re still hopeful that can happen – read our interview here about the ideas driving the show, and keep up to date with the latest news about the series here on its Facebook page.

I'm so glad that Australia has a television show that depicts the dynamics of young and healthy LGBT relationships.

I watched the pilot but for some reason, I wasn't feeling it.

Perhaps I am not the target demographic?
