Australian Marriage Alliancelaunches bizarre new app

Australian Marriage Alliance have today launched a new app which encourages supporters to earn “AP points” by filling in surveys, signing petitions, recruiting friends and reading ‘resources’ (“The green-left: using threats and tantrums to repress democracy”).

The bizarre app offers a point score leaderboard, by which opponents of marriage equality are easily able to track their “progress” (ironic, really), unlock various “badges”, and share their personal high scores across social media.

We downloaded the app so that you wouldn’t have to, and safe to say that you’re not missing out on much. The survey, for which you earn 250 AP points, asks eager participants to offer up services in support of the anti-marriage equality campaign. These services include: “I will host an event”, “I will be a fundraiser”, “I will do a block walk” and “I will work a phone bank”.

This is it, ladies and gents, discrimination has inevitably gone digital. If anything, the uninspiring and clunkily designed app is a strong indication of the national infrastructure and support database Australian Marriage Alliance has built in preparation for the proposed plebiscite.

For them, it seems our ongoing plight for equality is nothing but a mobile phone game to play with on the train ride to work, complete with point tallies, leaderboards, and hate speech.

And when you take into account the 17,000 physician signatures recently collected in a petition against safe schools, it would appear that the self-professed “silent majority” has been galvanised into action.

Yes im rather fond of the golden ring they keep using in their promo. That ring is gonna be stretched and loosey goosey and very over lubed after they find that having over extended themselves, that churches will undergo an audit(labor and greens have touted this and the state Vic Govt. has put a bill before parlaiment in Sept. 2016 to examine the continuenace of this public immunity to discriminate) to see if they really should be

-tax exempt
-not-for-profit
-federal anti-discrimination exempt
-accepting millions in federal taxpayer funding
and flagrantly breaking their not-for-profit status if they start politiking in the public square(they have been warned by the Aussie Electoral Office and this is the reason the ACL wants the Federal anti-discrimination laws suspended in the now defunct PLEB)
It beggars belief that a hate group like ACL has tax exemption and not-for-profit-status to prosecute a case against law abiding tax paying gay Australians!

I'd be MORE surprised if the Australian Marriage Alliance HADN'T come up with something like this.

Seriously I'm starting to see no difference between the ACL and The Australian Marriage Equality movement. Both conservative groups who have a 'it's my way or the highway' attitude,

Ash, I think you may see differently if you were in a 21 year relationship as I have been and have strived for equality all of your adult life. Just a reminder that it's a GLBTIQ forefathers that fought for the rights you and I enjoy today, and they didn't fight for these right with online posts, they were bashed by police for them.

And those gay activists you speak of also fought for the government to keep out of peoples personal lives and bedrooms. It's a bit funny how now LGBTIQA+/DSG activists are fighting for to be included in the marriage act to have the government sanction their relationship. Governments and religions use marriage as a way to oppress and socially control people and marriage laws were formed and still are based on social inequality.

As I've said many times on this site, it's time for the marriage act, defecto laws and divorce act to be abolished and new modern relationship laws which cover all grounds for legal relationship recognition between consenting adults of any gender, who want to legally formalise their relationship whether they are a couple or polyamorous and for easier dissolution of the relationship if it happens to end.

I wouldn't hold out any great hopes until and unless the Lord's Prayer ceases to be read at the opening of every parliamentary session.

And extremists, at either end of the gay marriage debate spectrum, will put the average Joe-blow punter off with THEIR extremist views and attitudes.

For those so against the AMA they seem to have a lot of time investigating what new concepts they have.

Whether you support them or not is your choice (we as a society can make up our own minds). There are a lot of people that would consider change.org troublemakers but supporters would share a different view.

Let them be... The way some GLBTI people act is on par with Islamic fundamentalists who are so bigoted and arrogant that they believe their view is the only view that matters.

I guess it is sour grapes for Samuel and for many of the leftist GLBTI activists.

All the IT talent within the GLBTI community and not a single app that will allow them to uninivite the PM from the Sydney G&L Mardi Gras, Annoy the sh*t out of the Midsumma organizers over News Corp sponsorship, Give one star reviews on facebook to any venue that dares to accommodate a function for the ACL and no IM function so they can spread their bigotry towards the ACL and other groups amongst their friends.

The ACL like any other group has the right to express their opinion.

The only bizarre thing is the irony of many if not all GLBTI activists who believe they should have more "rights" whilst everyone else should get stuffed!

I often wonder how much the marriage equality activists have contributed to the rise of the far right in Australia.

Simplistic neo anarchist drivel with an underlying truth very badly formulated to deflect attention from the simple need for a basic human right.

MrAsh

MrAsh said on the 20th Dec, 2016

It's not simplistic. I've heard a few comments from both LGBTI/DSG and heterosexual identifying people that they feel the behaviour of marriage equality activists and the shut down of debate over marriage equality has fuelled resentment and antagonised far right supporters.

As for your argument of marriage as a basic human right, do you believe that a white Euro-U.S. centric declaration of human rights written in 1948 reflects the diversity of human relationships in different cultures and has evolved with changes cultural and social attitudes to relationships?

Remember also the word 'marriage' is a middle English word and is not a universal term and it's ethnocentric to treat all relationship recognition practices around the world in the same context as Western 'marriage'.

It's actually time in my opinion that the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights (UNDHR) was given an overhaul.

Article 16.

(1) Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution.
(2) Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses.
(3) The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State.

The rise of the far right? They have always been there but unlike the far left they are not driven to disrupt parliament or hang themselves from a building with a slogan.

If there is anything to learn from the Trump presidency is that far left/left have taken for granted that everyone will comply with their narrative without being challenged. It may be true that Clinton won the popular vote but that still does not discount a sizable number of people who have had enough of PC, minority dictatorship and the nonsense of religious sensitivity.

On that note have a MERRY CHRISTMAS. If you are one who is offended by such a statement. Toughen up and tell it to someone who cares!
