Ewan McGregor: 'There's A LotOf Gay Sex In Beauty And TheBeast'

Ewan McGregor says “there’s lots of gay sex” in Beauty and the Beast in his latest interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

McGregor who was on the show to promote Beauty and the Beast in which he plays a candlestick and the sequel to Trainspotting, T2: Trainspotting, was responding to the uproar about rumours Beauty and the Beast character LeFou (Josh Gad) is gay.

After Colbert mentioned the controversy surrounding the film McGregor said facetiously:

“There’s a lot of gay sex in it. There’s a lot of gay sex in this cartoon. I think if you live anywhere near Alabama, you should not go and see this film. What would Jesus think?”

He added:

“I think he [LeFour] is a gay character.”

To which Colbert responded:

“He is? I thought it turned out that it doesn’t actually say?”

McGregor said:

“It’s just like: He is a gay character. It’s 2017, for fuck’s sake!”

Conservative Russian MP’s tried to have the film banned in Russia, however the film wil be released but with a 16+ rating. The film has been in banned in Malaysia because of the film’s “gay moment”.

In director Bill Condon’s re-imaging of the Disney classic, the character of LeFou (Josh Gad) has a crush on lead antagonist Gaston (Luke Evans). In an interview with Attitude magazine he suggested the film would feature a ‘gay moment’, describing it as a ground-breaking move for Disney.

“It’s somebody who’s just realising that he has these feelings. And Josh makes something really subtle and delicious out of it,” he said. “And that’s what has its pay-off at the end, which I don’t want to give away. But it is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie.”
